  1. HEY! My first comment shoutout! (I was beginning to think the intentional misspelling was a bit too inappropriate for airtime. ;)

HADRON. HADRON. HADRON. (say it with me...)
  2. Share video on isro
  3. how or why was it possible for ralph ewig as a german to work for spacex etc...? elon musk pointed out that they, for "itar-reasons", only can hire us citizens?
  4. Activate EMH! (Emergency Mike Hologram)
  5. Would a moonlet be spherical object that is smaller than a moon, but larger than asteroid?

Also, isn't the Trump administration defunding NASA earth climate research and date collection because the data is contrary to his political parties dogma and is not to their liking, as his administration and his party have already erased data from other government web sites.

By the way, I like Space Mikes imaging, but I miss his cool booth to.

    Great show, as always.
  6. UAE announced Mars city on 2-15-2017 by 2117... launching soon...one of many hopefully .
  7. DARPA: We created a satellite that can intercept other satellites and clubber them to death with their mechanic fists! Erhm... we'll just call it a servicing satellite and pretend it's up there to fix things!
  8. The ESA is donating the Ariane V rocket for free, That's why NASA is using it.
  9. One thing I've been thinking of regarding your standard question of, when will people return to the moon? With the recent death of Gene Cernan (Apollo 17) the number of living moon walkers has dropped to 6 (out of the 12 people who have ever walked on the moon). Perhaps the question should be, when will the number of moon walkers stop decreasing and start increasing again?

A related question is, will the number of living moon walkers ever fall to zero?
  10. You should research a bit better your news. That tiny ISS airlock works by using a single opening: the Common Berthing Mechanism. Berth it to the station, fill it up, then unberth it with the station robot arm to deploy the satellites the way they came in, a safe distance away. Simple, cheap, and robust, the 'airlock' only needs to actuate the satellite dispenser's release mechanism, while existing assets (the robot arm and unused CBM) do the heavy lifting.

It doesn't actually need its own door, and you can fit whatever you can launch to ISS, since a CBM is the biggest port in the station. KISS at its finest.
  11. i just came to see if they talked about isro
  12. Good show, kind of train wrecky at times but it was fun to watch.
  13. YOUR FORMAT WORKS FOR NON-SPACE-GEEKS!!!
Love how you guys keep improving and growing. I've been with you since just before the Spacevidcast to TMRO change. This episode was the first one I convinced my girlfriend to watch with me. She has no interest whatsoever in space and when your guest claimed that everyone finds space interesting and gets excited about it, she had a good laugh. What she LOVED was how excited each of you gets about their field of interest and she just loves Carianne. Keep it up!!!
  14. NASA needs a Chief Hairodynamicist asap. I mean, Who's going to give everyone such stylish 'dos when we colonize space?
  15. Did Mr. Ewig address the encryption and security of their system? I would be interested if it is Military or NSA grade.
  16. If I'm not mistaken, Kounotori is actually pronounced Kōnotori (long "oh" sound rather than an "oo" sound).
  17. "That'll be really surprising if it is one of those rare gasses like argon that was, like, plentiful there!" (Mike @21:42)

Fun fact: in Earth's atmosphere, argon is 20-25 times more plentiful than carbon dioxide by volume (depending on whose numbers you use -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atmosphere_of_Earth suggests the current factor is ~22).

Bonus fact: If you took all the oxygen, nitrogen & water vapor out of Earth's current atmosphere you'd end up with an atmosphere (~94% Ar / ~4% CO2 / ~2% trace gasses) roughly the same size as, & almost a mirror image of, the current Martian one (~96% CO2 / ~2% Ar / ~2% trace gasses).
  18. Hi there. My dad, Ricky Lake, submitted a comment to you about my brother and I. He loves this channel and talks about it often. That said, there's nothing like being called out to win a my subscription! This is some hardcore knowledge. To be honest, my business degree hasn't prepared for me for the space jargon and i will have to start from the beginning, but in case my dad reads this, his message totally worked. I'm hooked. So, i guess....to infinity and beyond!?
  19. Sorry guys you are both (Jared and Mike) wrong. "Kounotori" is pronounced as [Kohnotori]. There is no "u" sound in the pronunciation. (Video time 7:20)
  20. Although it will hopefully keep getting extensions, when "they" decide to end the ISS, the plan always seems to be to deliberately turn it into the most expensive firework ever.

Why not use that last fuel to boost it as much as possible and let it sit there, in space and ON EBAY (wouldn't be fair on Amazon) until someone buys it, i wonder if Elon of Jeff or even Richard would have a use for it?

That way governments could get a 0.1% return on their "astronomical" investment but then also have the right in a contract to return to it if they wanted, maybe even continue to collect a percentage of the future profits?

Not being cynical but i bet "they" will never be that logical.
