  4. My Acer PC came with Windows 8.1 which I updated to Windows 10. If I restore using the Recovery Partition then it goes back to 8.1. Can I replace the factory recovery partition with Windows 10?

  7. been talking to microsoft techs for 2 weeks and got no where. seen this and im up again. After windows 10 FREE update was locked on blue screen. Thought i had a brick thanks microsost. ty ty ty acer

  14. Thanks from the UK, 30mins and my laptop was back to normal.  Now I will have to wait for 180 or more updates and the 8.1 update itself, then load all my programs back, but i am not bothered as I have my computer back.  I will NEVER use Kaspersky Internet Security again on anything.

AHA - thank you ACER !  I tried and tried to get this working with ALT and F10 and found that timing is everything.  You need to power on and immediately press the two keys and keep pressing on and off until you hear a BEEP.  Then the screen changes and offers to repair.  I am currently refreshing my laptop so I do not lose all my files.
    I've had a nightmare with this Acer and a Toshiba after using Kaspersky Internet security 2015 on them...it ruined both after a Microsoft update to Windows 8.1.  It prevented both laptops updating, so Windows wouldn't work - I was left with no icons and then "Windows is not responding" in a box!  I put McAfee Internet Security on the Toshiba and have NO problems with it.  I intend to do the same with the ACER.  It's now on 21% recovered.  So glad I don't have to put the Acer in the bin!

  18. I had to replace my broken SSD. Ever since booting my pc puts me through the Acer eRecovery menu before actually booting up my pc. Is there a way to make it just boot automatically without asking me what I want to do?

When I click restore to factory settings it asks for a password, I tried 000000 (six zeros) but that didn't work. another source told me to load up erecovery management after my laptop had already loaded. unfortunately when I click erecovery management from the start menu it simply doesn't load and nothing happens. -- Is there a way to either restore my laptop to factory settings without a password or a way to recover the password that doesn't involve using erecovery management from the start menu or alternatively is there a way to fix erecovery management so that it works when  I click on  it in the start menu? thanks.
