  5. I'm not sure what you are asking. If you backed up your files to a disc, you would need that disc to restore them from. If you backed up to an external hard drive, you would use that to restore them.
  6. can you restore it by computer and not by cd?
  7. In Windows 7 and 8, backing up the system image is fairly easy and similar to the steps in this video, but for Vista it's a bit more challenging and doesn't work quite like this. You need to have a Windows Boot disc or use a Windows Recovery at startup. Google "windows vista backup system image" for articles that explain how to do this.
  8. Thanks for watching and commenting!
  9. Thank you for the tutorial.
  10. Does this include a system image?
  11. In Windows 8, the backup program changed a bit and is now a part of the "File History" backup program. I haven't actually tried using Vista files with this program myself, so I just googled an answer and you may be able to do this by going to Control Panel > System and Security > File History > Windows 7 File Recovery > Back up or restore your files. Then under "Restore", you can select the backup from your drive to restore.
  12. If u back up from a vista and u upgrade to windows 8 can u restore your files?
  13. You've done more preparing and research than most people do. Having the backups of your software and files will definitely help. :)
  14. As long as you have all your personal files and software that you've added yourself backed up, you shouldn't have a problem with running a system recovery. I'm not familiar with the ASUS recovery software though to provide details on how to do this.
  15. You could possibly back up the data files associated with the games, but I don't think it would work to use the Windows Backup and Restore tool to backup program files. It's primarily for personal files. However, if you are in Windows 7 or 8, you can use the System Image Recovery option to back up everything on your drive. From Control Panel, select System and Security and then Back up your computer, and then Create a system image.
  16. Your welcome. Glad to hear you got it working!
  17. Thanks for reply very appreciated :D
  18. I could see the drive and access other content on it through window explorer just fine. The problem was when in backup and restore, windows 7 was not recognizing the drive. Managed to get the files back though but not from restore .Used a program that let me access the VHD file on the drive
  19. Are you able to see the drive if you browse to it with Windows Explorer (from "Computer"). If you open the Backup and Restore program does it show the option to restore backed up files?
  20. Hi i tried restoring files from Vista that were backup on an external drive to Windows 7 . but windows 7 cannot detect the backed up files on the external hardrive Please Help.
