  17. There hasn't been any good new apps that have been released on the Mac for a very long time. It's actually very disappointing.

  20. You missed Audacity!! The single and only 'go to' app for anyone wanting to do audio stuff on their Mac. It's free and has an awesome range of things it can do, such as edit any sound file in 000's of different ways, strip audio from video, mix and merge audio, anything really. It isn't the prettiest interface, not by a long way, but if you can ignore that it will prove its worth many times over. What VLC is for video, so Audacity is for audio.
    And for anyone a bit more ambitious in the DJ line, who wants to 'mix' like a pro, there is DJay from Algoriddim, a paid-for appear which gives you two virtual turntables side by side.
    Finally, on the audio side, and also paid-for, there's Hear which I've been using for all sound output on my Mac. Basically you use it to increase stereo separation providing a bigger sound stage, and there's all kinds of graphic equalisers and stuff, plus a whole load of presets you can use. Once you've set what you want your output to be, quit the app and the setting applies to all audio everywhere on the Mac. Launch the app again to switch it off or change settings.
