  8. I make educational videos and I use ScreenFlow and Keynote on a Mac. Since I am not videoing myself but content on the screen my focus is on how to deal with your own voice. My tip is to practice getting rid of "ah" and "uhm" sounds and instead allow yourself long pauses before speaking the next sentence. With video that doesn't matter as you can just edit out pauses.

Also I think it is worth getting used to the fact that you don't necessarily have to speak while doing things on screen. You can do that separate. In ScreenFlow I tend to chop up all my audio and screen recordings into logical blocks and label them. After removing artifacts from the audio, I simply stretch or compress each individual video segment to fit with the length of my audio describing that video segment. That way you get a very nice looking flow. I can personally make things happen quickly on screen while speaking at a confident and natural pace, so it can for some be useful to split the two activities and combine.

I've also found it useful simply recording using keynote. Rather than recording what you do on screen, in Keynote you can just copy paste in everything and have button clicks for every useful transition. Makes it easy to synch your voice with activities.

Also I can't recommend rehearsing enough. If I have a talk or video I might go through it 2-4 times to make sure I know exactly what to say and how. Not necessarily down to each individual word. If you do that, it easily gets robotic, but you should know the material you are going through so well that you don't stall and fumble.

Listening to my own voice, I've noticed what most people will probably realize about their own voice. Most of us simply don't pronounce words as clearly as we think. You have to exaggerate enunciation when recording yourself. Start thinking about it as an acting or performance. Stop thinking that you are just talking to your friends in a regular voice. You regular voice will most likely not be good enough for a video. Do a performance.
  9. I have been using Serif's Movie Plus software to create my videos. I also have Corel Video Studio X9. The Corel software costs more than the Serif software, and you'd think it would be better, but I prefer using Serif's over Corel's maybe because I am more familiar with how it works, and its functionality. Just because you pay a lot for any software, doesn't mean it is necessarily the best.
  10. I use Sony Vegas but I am currently learning After Effects
