  8. Louis, I'm not in the habit of complimenting people I don't know, But I feel the need to say this.....I'm a much older guy and grew up in a different time. I've spent some time looking over your collection of videos and am compelled to say that I'm impressed with your no excuse and no bullshit approach to life. Most younger people your age feel entitled and expect everything handed to them. They make excuses for not being able to do everything. I'm glad to see that American youth hasn't been completely lost. I wish you continued success and don't give up the good fight. Sorry this is so long! David W Bates Sr. 55 years young
  9. Out of all the times I have watched these I have learned quite a bit. I had to repair my own Intel Mac Mini "USB would shut off, would not communicate between disc and HD" and figured out the issue was the Intel 82801GBM (I/O controller), I pulled off the old one cleaned the mounting surface, removed all the old solder and instead of trying to reflow it with hot air I threw it into the oven at 420 Deg for about 30 minutes until it reflowed!

    I had to make sure the board was level but it sits perfectly "I used a Lead ball based Replacement bought from New York (Taiwan version)" and did replace the Electrolytic Capacitor. Nothing was damaged during the baking and now it works perfectly! I bought 4 gb of memory and most say the 1.83 mac Mini will not read all 4gb but mine does and I have Lion installed at the moment!

    Thanks Louis, you have taught me things about drivers for mosfets which worked great in amp repair and showed me keys to diagnosing my own Mac Mini I purchased for $30 shipped! Now I am going to gift the Mac Mini to my own Adopted Niece for her first Mac! I have since ordered a IMac 5,2 that will be getting the same 4gb of memory and I will see the Max OSX version I can get to install!
  10. Louis, you are right about how building a computer does not mean you know how it works. I majored in computer engineering. I can honestly say I know how a computer works, and I have to admit, and even at that, my knowledge is basic.

  13. Not a great time to build PC Desktops . But a great time to build the ultimate Laptop. A laptop with all ports ever needed , highest speed processers , removable Ram, Removable SSD, 4K Res Screen. T6 Alloy Case.. So every thing the old MBP's had but make it last Ten Years. Oh and the Old Lenovo Keyboard ...

  20. Louis, to be fair, most Apple users get far more use out of their 2 to 3,000 dollar systems than the average PC user does. That's why they generally spend the money for a new Apple product when theirs can't be repaired. PC users and Android/Windows Phone users for that matter, tend to focus on price vs. performance and expect a lot more out of cheap than they should. Apple users know they're paying for a specific experience. It might not be the fastest or the latest and greatest tech but, they know, they'll get the experience they expect and are willing to pay for it.
