This tutorial shows you how to solve the problem of a CD drive not being detected on the "My Computer" screen and getting a yellow exclamation point in your "Device Manager". This stops your CD/DVD drive from working on your computer, but my video tells your how to fix dvd drive problem free and easy. Here's the address to goto in the Windows Registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Here's Microsoft address for their support for CD not detected or CD not recognized http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/en-us

I was trying to find drivers online hoping it will recognize my drive and it did not work. But your tutorial was greatly explained in detail & simple. It saved me. I'm happy my drive is working good as new & glad I can see the D drive icon again.

  15. i dont have the dvd/cd rom device in my device manager wat can i do?
  16. Ok this doesnt help me at all because my CD burner drive isnt showing up in My Computer or in Device Manager. I replaced my old one, same model and everything, took out the old one, put in the new one. Turned on the computer, pop up said my other dvd drive had been installed correctly, which is the one im not even worried about, that one is fine. I recieved no software with this burner drive and figured it was just plug and play. So to reiterate, my old Lite-on burner died, so ordered a new one, took the old one out, put the new one in (exact same burner by Lite-on), and started the computer, and its nowhere to be found. My computer just recognizes my DVD drive(Samsung) below the burner. All cables are plugged in and the tray opens, so its functional, just its not being seen for some reason. Help please, this has been such a headache for me!
  17. i deleted the upper filter and lower filter and restarted but nothing happens

  20. Nick, I did your fix with regedit and it worked perfectly for about fifteen minutes and quit again. I checked and the dvd drive was not showing in my devices again. So I tried to do your fix once again only this time the lower and upper filters were still gone and there was nothing I could do. Now what? This Acer Aspire E1-771 laptop is a dog and has been nothing but trouble since I bought it in June of this year. It has all kinds of problems. I got another Acer because I had a 5552 for five years with no trouble whatsoever. It was a great machine, but now I'm stuck. Acer won't give me a new one. They want me to ship this unit to Texas for them to look it over and possibly repair, but that is unacceptable. I can't be without a work computer for weeks. They need to just replace this unit and then I'll send it back, but they won't even return my messages or complaints.
