CD drive not detected: Windows 7 fix

This is a small tutorial of solving the case of a CD drive not being detected on the "My Computer" screen voiding it from working properly. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116 Here is the address to the registration: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} If this doesn't work try this: When you restart the computer click the button for Bios. Once bios settings come up click on drives and find the SATA drive which has your cd drive. Make sure it is checked. If it is unchecked it means it wont show and you would have to mark on it, save and restart. If there is no SATA drive showing your drive at all, it means your drive is not physically connected properly.

  3. i don,t have the lower filter and upper filter in that folder aswell as the other commentators on this video.
    my cd/dvd was running fine up until 2 days ago when it stopped reading disks and now the eject tray does not work either.
    i,m using a hp elitebook 6930p on windows 7.

  18. those filters were not there to delete...my cd rom stopped working while i was burning a cd and now windows media is telling me to connect a burner?
