Change or Reset Forgot Windows 7 Password with Windows Disk by Britec First you'll want to type in the following command to backup the original sticky keys file: copy c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe c:\ Then copy the command prompt executable (cmd.exe) over top of the sticky keys executable: copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe Now you can reboot the PC. Once you get to the login screen, keep tapping Shift Key, you'll see an administrator mode command prompt. Now reset the password, type the following command, replacing the username and password with the combination you want: net user (Your Account) (NewPassword) Now you can login. with your new password.   7. The name of my account should be Devin because that's what I see whereas yours says "Test". But the command prompt is telling me that the account does not exist. I am the administrator. When I change my name to administrator and create a password, it lets me, but then that password does not work. What am I doing wrong? Thank you!

  20. So my pc has already upgraded to Windows10 and I only have my Windows 7 disc. I followed all the steps but I took out the disc and rebooted in windows10 but it gave me the error message DNS server not authoritative for zone. Should I have left the windows7 disc in and if I change it there will it then let me access Windows10? I backed up my entire computer last night but if I do not have to go back to factory settings that would be amazing!
