You have no other option than 'erase'? What if I don't want to lose everything?

Thanks for your post . . . I lost access to my backup drive when Windows 7 crashed while I was cloning my primary 2 TB My Passport Ultra to another identical drive for backup. After recovering from the blue screen of death, the target drive did not show up as a drive in Windows. I didn't care the data on it was toast, but I couldn't even use Windows to reformat it and start over. After downloading the WD utilities you discussed and reformating the corrupt drive all seems to be working.

Your video says how to fix a corrupted drive, i would imagine most people want to recover their data........... How do you do that by wiping it??

i have the same external but i want to recover my data, how can i do so?

I purchased one from Walmart and it didn't show up. This method worked for me. Almost immediately after erasing the drive, it appeared.
-
The title is misleading; this is not a fix/solution for a corrupted drive. You're reformatting it.

I just try to Format it , but it said " Format Failed "
