Re-download Mac OS X 10.7 Lion from the Mac App Store and create a bootable DVD which can be used as a recovery or installation disc. If "Mac OS X Lion" is not showing up under the "Purchases" tab, follow these steps: When you open up the Mac App Store, go to "Store" : "View My Account" in the menubar. Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted. Click on "View Hidden Purchases" under "iTunes in the Cloud", and click "Unhide" to the right of "Mac OS X Lion". Technical details: What you see is a virtual machine of Lion running in VMware Fusion on a MacBook Pro (also running Lion). ScreenFlow was running on the host OS to do the screen and audio recording. Audio was recorded with an Audio Technica AT2020 USB microphone. The VM means that I can easily put the OS into any configuration that I want without risk of damaging my main OS installation. It also makes starting over after a mistake easier (snapshots are a very handy feature), and it allows me to take a video of the machine booting up.

  3. Setting burn speed to the slowest setting helps prevent write errors when burning the disk. Write errors will be caught if you check "verify disk", which is why checking this option is very important; however, "verify disk" cannot fix any errors that it finds. If "verify disk" finds errors, you will have to burn a new disk.
  4. why should you use the slowest setting on the burn menu?
