  11. I bought a refurbished HP Probook 6450B from Fry's with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and the "COA" 25 digit number attached is for a system builder. There is no "recovery drive" and I was unable to locate the "Recovery Manager". Tried Microsoft Support and they told me to contact the Manufacture - HP. HP doesn't have the "Recovery Disks". So I have to go out and buy a new Windows 7 Professional System Disk. Learned my lesson the hard way I guess - won't ever buy a "refurbished" system from Fry's and never an HP again.

From my personal experience i can tell that do not take back up on discs.Chances are low that they will work at the time of need.I took recovery on Disks but at the hour of need 'disk 2' stopped working.So take it on pendrive instead.But more cheaper and hassle free way is to order recovery media kit from your lappy manufacturer.It costs you around 10$ which is still cheaper than 16gb pendrive!!!!

  20. You can't download the recovery partition. It has software licensing restrictions. You may possibly be able to order recovery discs from HP or find someone online selling them. If you have an operating system disc, you can also download many of the software and drivers for your PC from HP. You can't download the OS from HP though.
