  10. You should do a Google search for “bph07143” it will bring up a link for an HP Support document titled Looking for Recovery Discs? Following the document should help you to obtain Recovery DVDs. Once you have the DVDs you can do another Google search for “Performing an HP System Recovery HP”, then simply choose the one for your operating system and follow the instructions.
  11. I'm watching this because I do have a HP Pavilion dv6 Laptop and My recovery drive has been deleted. It used to have 4 gb left in it since it had the recovery files in there now it has 20 gb (nothing in it) and its name was changed from Recovery :D to Local Disk :D So I want to factory reset my computer but since the files are missing I cant do it within my computer. But now when I try this tutorial it says I have created recovery media for the PC already. I really need help
  12. The software is set before you even first turn it on. Running a recovery puts the software back to how it was when it first shipped from the factory.
  13. Does it create the restore point right when you make the back up or when you first got the pc
  14. You should be able to. Give it a try. I think the protected files will copy too. I've seen copying the files from one FD to another and it working.
  15. so just to make sure i understand correctly, there is no way of making a working backup for the Recovery partition or USB Recovery FD since i can't see the files... right?
  16. Hmmm...my hunch is there are protected files that are not visible even when you have the hidden files set to show.
  17. i just made my recovery on to a 32GB FD and the files in it is only 567MB but the computer somehow thinks there are more then 17GB of data not only in the computer recovery partition but in the 32GB FD there is no invisible files, my computer is setup so that i can see all files whether they are supposed to be visible or not so am i missing something?
  18. Glad to help. Thanks for watching our videos!
  19. alright that's awesome thanks.
  20. Yes, you can create recovery media on a USB FD and then copy it to another USB FD. To do this, you need to ensure it is an exact and complete copy and the new drive can't have other (non-Recovery) files on it. The drive needs to be just for Recovery. Before copying, make sure all hidden files are visible so you can copy EVERY file. Do a select all (CTRL+A) and then copy/paste the files to the new drive.
