  1. Scams don't trust them... Been paying for my TV since 2009 7 pounds every month they couldn't fix my TV so they cancelled my agreement with out my knowledge....so all my money went to waist paying and trusting them.... Biggest scams....
  2. it's rubbish they put crap graphics cards etc wen getting it repaired by them
  3. These dickheads broke 2 of my laptops... they went in cosmetically perfect with faults... came back absolutely wrecked... one had screws missing... scratches all over it and the WiFi switch missing. The second one had a massive cracking down the screen and the vents all smashed. I said what's this... they replied it must have been like that when you gave it to us 😠 I went bloody mental, they are cowboys... I finally (after a few weeks of emails and phonecalls to and from their head office and about 6 visits to the store) got my laptop replaced.
  4. Currys and PC World are high street cancer. Avoid at all costs.
  5. stay well away, expensive , expensive, always trying to sell extras, never give up,and its a lottery on who you get to fix your item..........try to use independent dealers from recommendations.....these people will sell you things that you dont even need,by assistants aged about 12 that think they know everything....sesame street for computers....what is funny,go into a branch of currys/pcworld and count how many people ask how you are...you ok..yes.............alright,,yes fine thanks..................hi there,,yes im fine................near the end of the shop.....hi there....ffs yes im fine.............hi , yes im fine......ffs..........heading out......hi there...ffs , (IT WAS THE SAME PERSON THAT ASKED 30sec AGO) get me out of this hell hole....oh and its to expensive.
  6. thanks for posting this.
  7. Right please don't judge me as I regret it myself but I worked for Curry's/PCWORLD for about a year left just last October and as a worker there it is also hell!
You are forced to do sales, forced to get care plans out of customers to the point the company have offered me up to £40 of discount on the care plan to customers, if they can discount there care plan that much kinda says it really themselves that they don't even trust there own care plan and just another way to scam more money!
also when you start and in the job advertisement it says about bonuses every 3 months, my whole year there not one bonus!
you get one break even when you do a full shift and only first half of your break you get paid second half well you can forget about seeing that and at Xmas time that can be a 11hr shift but what is worse is at weekends at Christmas doing extra hours your break is cut to 30mins! straight away breaking the law!

As me now being a customer I still go into my old work as I am still friends with a lot of them but I am still talked into a care plan and all the other extra you really don't need and to be frank if you do you can get cheaper like at Amazon!
The care plan if you read it carefully and know all the in and outs of it is the same as a guarantee or warranty you get with the product only difference is with the repair time, you are actually cheaper to pay the manufacturer the service than pay for a 3 or 5 year cover that you might not ever need and if you don't use it it's less money in your pocket and in there's and that's why they can chuck these stupid discounts so don't feel you get a good deal if they offer you a discount because at the end of the day they will rob you some other way!

my review is my experience inside job and outside Job and both ways I am highly disappointed with the company and only occasionally shop there and only when a friend is in working knowing I won't take there crap but I do get to use there discount card which is the only positive for me knowing how they run and the card other than that I would waste my time on them better to by directly from manufacturer or somewhere like John Lewis or amazon.
  8. I have looked at the on line reviews for Currys pc repair service and it is absolutely dreadful there wasn't a good review to be seen they need to do a system restart.
  9. Fucking LIARS !!!! - The only thing you bastards at Currys/PC World "know how" to do, is tell lies, sell crap, rip people off and act like rude, jumped-up little wankers.
  10. This crowd scammed my daughter when she needed her laptop keyboard replaced. They told her the disk was also faulty and charged £100 for a new one. When the laptop finally came back the disk they'd fitted was second hand !!
Not only that but they expected her to copy all her stuff over so had given her "the old disk" so she could do that (unsure how). That disk turned out to be somebody else's !!
Totally unacceptable scam. Avoid like the plague !!
  11. So they're saying they can't replace a hard drive in their store?
  12. This is my experience of Currys PC World.... I ordered a laptop online. Delivery date set. Took day off work. Laptop never arrived so I phoned to see what was going on. Currys say don't know and are unable to help. DPD say we have lost your parcel.

New one will be sent we will open an investigation. I had to phone to find out that the parcel was not coming, nobody contacted me. I wait a week and phone up. The woman I speak to seems very disinterested and tells me that there is an update on the system today saying it is at the depot. I do not believe her. I am proven right to not believe her when I phone back and speak to someone else. She tells me that there is no note from today and doesn't know what she was on about. I then wait for 15 mins on hold while she finds out what the hell is going on.

The 'solution' from Currys is to give me a refund. They could not provide me with a discount or and alternative laptop. No attempt to compensate me whatsoever. I spent over 2 hours on the phone with multiple other phone calls that I am not mentioning and had to chase them the whole way through. At no point was I contacted by them or the companies they use. I am still waiting for my refund. What a waste of time. I will never use Currys again, this is the worst customer service I have ever received in my life. I did not even get an apology.
  13. They are useless. My laptop had 2 faults (trackpad fault and wireless not working). The "knowhow" guy laughed in my face and tried to charge me £50 to even look at it. Turned out it was a hardware fault and I shouldn't be charged. Didn't stop there though, he couldn't work the repair booking software and had to be shown, then the printer ran out of toner and had to get someone else to change it!
  14. Worst customer service ever. lost around £600 on paying for my tablet and the whatever cover plan. kids took it on holiday and returned it damaged saying that they accidentally left in between water soaked towel for about a day. knowhow took the tablet to fix it when they returned it to me after 15 days un-repaired saying there is a misuse and negligence as it seems that tablet been full submerged!! sent a letter to investigation department as they suggested saying what happened to the tablet but they never got back to me. after a month wrote a negative review on trusted pilots when a member of knowhow replied with giving an email address to communicate saying that he will look into this for me and replied that they are not gonna fix it. if i have more evidence send it to them.I mean how could i provide an evidence of how the tablet was damaged when i wasn't even there. DO they expect me to have a video record or photo of it :/ .today called knowhow customer service as they are still taking money from my account. person on the phone said "ill cancel your policy" and soon as i asked about what happened to my tablet he hang up on me :0 . Now im stuck with a piece of useless metal that has cost me around £600 as well as taking a space on my desk.

    moral of my experience :
Never ever buy any care plan from the knowhow , pc work , currys
If you do, you loss your money + product + Time + you get insulted too as they will accuse you of negligence as well as they don't even wanna talk to you
  15. they are having trouble fitting a dishwasher at my house and have asked me to buy a water pipe for them (with little info about what it actually is). I did actually pay for them to know all this, the clue is in your 'knowhow' trademark guys!

Yes dishwashers need pipes to be connected to a water supply! It is actually 30cm inches from the mains inlet water pipe in a kitchen - maybe they should have employed plumbers! Some of the staff have been helpful in finding out what hose I need to get for them.
  16. I am reading all of the posts on this thread and again and again the term 'insurance' is mentioned.  Currys/PC World and all of it's associated companies in the UK DO NOT sell or offer insurance for TV's and Computer equipment!  They sell/offer 'CARE PLANS'  which as you will know are totally different to an insurance policy.  Regarding data loss:  if the data on the computer is of any importance then it is the owners responsibility to BACK IT UP.  There are plenty of options to do this including FREE CLOUD SERVICES!  Software cannot be repaired as it's not mechanical or electrical also it is not the retailers responsibility to know your 'Microsoft Office Licence Key'  or indeed supply lost or misplaced software installation discs.
I work in the industry and I see it from both sides...and Which?  Play the game.  I subscribed to your magazine and services for 20 years, I own every publication from issue 1 right up to 2003!  You need to do your research and get ALL OF YOUR FACTS RIGHT before placing a misleading video on You Tube full of inaccuracies that will only entice public debate, of which most (not all) replies are exaggerated and untrue.
  17. PC world terrible place never buy from them they are shit
  18. Terrible shop bought t.v 6weeks ago faulty when switched on they would not refund or replace.. Took my television for repair it was smashed in transit and had a new screen front cabinet rear cabinet screen and mainboard.. Returned faulty again they will still not refund or replace... Never again will I shop in there store
  19. Another abysmal tale of know how not knowing how.  I have had the misfortune to have put my desk top tower in for a repair
The obligatory £50.00 to send it away for inspection, they informed me in the store that there could be some data lost if the hard drive had to be replaced, I pointed out that I had already spoken to someone from their help line who informed me that it sounded like either a power supply problem or possible a connection inside was either loose or broken.
I pay my £50.00 and away it goes and I was informed that they would be in touch to inform me of the fault and the cost of repair.  I did get a telephone call to say that the fault was with the mother board of the pc, when I enquired about my data that was on the hard drive I was told by the engineer that this was still intact and would not be affected by the repair, had they said otherwise I would have requested the unit be returned unrepaired.
I get my pc back, and of course everything I had on there has gone, all my files even programs I had installed
I find desk top icons for know services on there which I didn't ask for.
I have emailed them giving them the reference number of my repair and my complaint I assume that I will receive a reply saying that I was informed that there could be data loss, true if the hard drive had to be replaced I would expect that, but not for the replacement of the mother board, as all the information was not stored on there.
Know how only know how it seems to really piss people off, give inaccurate information, or just really don't know what they are doing.
I will never ever purchase anything from PC world or Curry's definitely not Dixons ever again, even when I went to collect my repair I was kept waiting nearly 40 minutes before seeing anyone, yet there were plenty of staff walking around in pairs filling shelves or talking amongst themselves not at all professional in any way what so ever.
If you want a pc or anything of a technical nature you would probably get better service from asking your local post man or window cleaner
  20. TERRIBLE SERVICE! AVOID CURRYS PC WORLD AT ALL COATS OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!
I'M CURRENTLY TRYING TO GET THEM TO ADHERE TO THE SALE OF GOODS ACT AND REFUND MY MONEY FOR GOODS THAT ARE UNFIT FOR PURPOSE. THEY KEEP SPOUTING NONSENSE AMS ARE BEING EVASIVE AT EVERY TURN. THEY EVEN GOADED ME INTO FOLLOWING THROUGH ON MY PLAN TO GO TO COUNTY COURT!
