For more information about our services visit our website at https://acsdata.com or call 1-800-717-8974 In this video we show you an actual case that was sent in to us for data recovery. It is a great illustration of how severe the damage can be when a head failure occurs, and we explain why the data cannot be recovered in these situations. Regardless of what you may have heard or read, when the magnetic coating on the platters (the area that actually holds the data) have been turned to dust, there's no way the data can be recovered. Imagine writing your name on a piece of wood and sanding it off, then try to imagine repairing the sanded area to restore your signature, it's physically impossible. The same thing occurs with hard drive platters. Hard drives are extraordinarily complex devices. Any imperfections in the platter or read-write heads can cause the drive to fail. If a head failure is severe enough it can score the platter surface as illustrated in this video and render the data unrecoverable. You can read more about how hard drive operate here https://acsdata.com/how-hard-drives-work/ Some companies will tout that they have a 95% or better success rate when it comes to hard drive and RAID data recovery services. The truth is, they are either extremely lucky or they get very few jobs in. Most data recovery jobs are either recoverable or unrecoverable before we even receive them. In cases like this when the hard drive platters are severely damaged, then there's nothing we or anyone else can do. Has nothing to do with our capabilities when it comes to data recovery. If we had 100 jobs come in every week, and 99 of them had scored platters, our success rate would only be 1%. That's not realistic, and not an indicator of capability. On average, if you really ask the companies that know what they are doing, you will find that about 15-25% of the drives that arrive are not recoverable from the start due to either platter damage, data corruption, or failed prior attempts that have exacerbated the problem. If you need data recovery on a failed hard drive or RAID array, just make sure you do your homework and verify that the company can actually recover data successfully. Most won't charge you any attempt fees unless they can recover your data. At ACS Data Recovery we never charge an evaluation fee, and the only time we ever charge attempt fees are in cases where a drive has already been opened prior to our receipt, or in complex RAID arrays. 1. What crap companies make today, Seagate should be issuing a recall, and we really need a computer lemon law of at least 5 year warranties for Hard Drive's.
  2. Buy a Western Digital. I have had no problems with mine. I have had issues with Seagate and Maxtor.
  3. and thats why i dont buy seagate drives
seagate: the bin laden of hard drives
when they die... they make a point of taking your data with them
  4. would there be literally any data left? for instance lets say that the NSA gets ahold of this particular drive. might they be able to use advanced technologies to extract any data off the drives? are there some really advanced techniques that even a company like yours isnt equipped to deal with? might one be able to look under an electron microscope and literally read off the ones and zeros off a drive (assuming manpower and money is no object)
  5. what about the 1tb series? do they have the same failure rate?
  6. I have a question, I have a Transcend External HDD USB3.0 , and I kind of lost my temper few days ago, and Bang that HDD with my fist above it Once. Because the light indicator is on, but not blinking (which its supposed to be blinking if its detectable by the system, pretty sure that is just a bug can be solved by restarting my laptop which i normally do and it will work fine), But just this once, i made that stupid mistake to bang it which I regret. But i never expected it to get damage as the Transcend HDD comes with the protection cover. Right after I hit it, the light indicator is still on, but there's no blinking. & so I plugged it out,
    and connected it again, and

Now, the light indicator no longer even blinks, however, there is the Clicking sound which can be heard for about 3 seconds.

So in this case, Is it still fixable?
  7. why sir can you justify please?
  8. how would one prevent dust from entering the hdd? or is that case because somebody opened it up
  9. as we see platters got damaged only on the upside if we reverse those platters down side and using it will make it work better for data recovery sir?
  10. What is the point in charging a customer for an opened drive, when a drive could have simply been opened just for the purpose of doing a quick visual inspection?
  11. Seagate, Notorious of crapping up! Do NOT buy Seagate or Maxtor. They will die long before an old Windows 95 computer ever will.
  12. I wish I saw this video before my DT2000DM001 HDD failed without any symptoms
  13. My western digital fails... A blue series, 1 tb.... Happens because the manufacturers are thinkin on sales, and costumers loose the data, that companys should be responsable for the repair wen a flaw apears mechanic or eletrónic
  14. I got 2000GB Seagate Barracuda, model: ST2000DM001 spoiled. Please teach me how to fix it diy and should I recover data by any recommended software. Thank you very much.
  15. Can you recommend a hdd that is shock resistant. WD are not. 2 drives I lost along all my data.
  16. I have replays ole my HHD drives with SSD or SSD M.2
  17. I got 2 st1000dm003 1TB drives in my nas 24/7 in mirror and they seem to keep up fine under low temperatures. i got my dad a 2TB st2000dm001 and i know it is known to fail but i wanted to see myself how bad this drive is.
  18. Ah the famous Seagate 3TB. those are very bad but i guess you know everything about them. great video keep it up!
  19. Ive seen ones that were literally 10x worse. Its rather unfortunate for the customer... =(
