Visit us at https://acsdata.com/data-recovery/ or call 1-800-717-8974 In this video we demonstrate an actual recovery on a customer's hard drive. It is a 1TB Western Digital drive with failed heads. The sliders at the end of the head assembly were sheared off. We were able to successfully swap out the heads, regain the head alignment, and get a complete image of the drive.

  1. Is data recovered 100 percent?
  2. In your experience, what mfg/model drives have the WORST failure rates?; which are some of the best?
  3. Hey great video!  Can a platter swap be performed from a 2GB 4 platter configuration WD BLACK drive into a similar 4 platter 2GB WD GREEN Donor drive provided the drives are otherwise a match?
  4. I assume you do not wish to show the method you use to keep the heads apart. As in a comb? Or splitter.?
  5. You may want to add an ESD mat to your setup.
  6. Which Imager software do you use @20:00 ? its oyur own? Greetings
  7. What brand(s) of drive(s) are dirty on the inside?
  8. This you do to remove the stuck heads on a platter and you tell us that you are a Pro ?! Don't understand me wrong, bu I must ask you, do you trust in luck that you don't make any scratches on the platters and don't compromise forever the customer's data doing that platters spin and HSA push back to ramp procedure ?! Do you know that because of the physical connection between the HSA surface and platters the HSA can be almost like glued to the platter surface and when you do that procedure you simply destroy the platter by smashing parts of material from it ?! And on WD HDDs the Service Area Tracks are mostly on near the outside edge of the platter exactly where in this case the HSA was stuck ?! Have you ever hear about unstuck tools for HSA (Heads STack Assembly ) ?1 If not, just try to visit HDD Surgery or ER-Tools they can help you to become a real Pro !!! Bad attitude regarding customer data !!! And the last dust removing procedure with the air spray was awesome !!! Pffff this kind of recovery is bad for Data Recovery Business specially when is as well advertised on YouTube. And by the way on this HDD type you don't need to move the cover in order to align the heads over the tracks, this was only for old Caviar series of WD HDDs... You did had luck, but luck has nothing to do with the ethical approach on data recovery in Data Recovery Business Branch !!! You are mandatory to take all the caution and make only the safest procedure in order to at least preserve the HDD in the original state your customer did bring it, in case you cannot recover it !!! This come from respect for the client !!!
  9. wow...
I was just tagging along during the hardware repair, there are SO many videos of that, but during the recovery portion I was entranced.

  13. Very excellent video, thank you for taking the time to explain the process so well.   I have a 2tb WD (quad platter stack) black drive with good platters and data but the complete circuit board including the data chip has been lost.   Can you tell me if it is possible to swap the data platters into a similar donor drive using the donor's circuit board and bios chip or is the chip married to the original drive the data was written to?  I hope I explained that well enough to understand.  Thank you for your channel and help.
  14. can you retrieve data from a locked 2tb western digital?
