After a problem with HDD SSD 8Gb it had to be changed to a new one, the Windows was instaled by a external DVD drive! He only boot if he check before if have a boot from external dvd. ===== SOLUTION ====== Get a pen drive less than 2Gb and use a program called PeToUSB and format your pen drive in FAT16 "ATENTION!! FAT is not the same as FAT16" after download a bios firmware called 900-ASUS-1004.ROM rename it to 900.ROM and copy to your pen drive, put on your netbook and power on, quickly press ALT+F2 and wait... the magic will happend! any question ask me! bye bye

if you dont put it there, ask who can did it, if you dont find it have a big problem because the password is writed in a flash rom, so dont use energy to keep it, have a way to kick it but i cant help you. sorry

i also get a password from bios, never put a password in there....

why i press quickly f2+alt but it repeat a same picture like went we start the pc...

so your eee have the bios protected by a password. will be hard to hack the bios passwords because/maybe your motherboard keep the password in a flash memory and dont need a battery... if your hardware have a battery to keep the settings put it off.

what you did didnt work because i was pressing f2 but all it did was ask me for the current password

I did the same thing you did because mine wasnt booting right but then it gives me some message about dropping to a shell and something about initramfs...? Any ideas on what to do?

An bios upgrade to the latest version solved that problem for me.

my mom has the same problem on her eee pc 900 the laptop only starts up only with the cd drive and the xp cd in the drive if i boot up with the cd drive one other thing this happend to me after i updated the bios via the bios update on xp what do i have to do so i dont have to start the pc with the cd drive and the cd every time???
