This video is an update to one I posted nearly two years ago. I follow the same process as I did then and update to the latest version of the EeePC 1005HA BIOS (at the time of posting, that version is 1401). I am still mastering screen captures with a camera (without software), so I apologize for some slightly blurry scenes. The webpage for the Asus BIOS updates is: www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_PC/Eee_PC_1005HA_Seashell/#download In the video, I rename the BIOS file to "1005HA.ROM" (no quotes). As always, proceed at your own risk.

Formated 1Gb flash to FAT(default alocation), keeps reading 1005HAG.ROM and stays idle without writing (i waited for more than 5 minutes). Is this normal? Thank you !

Hi . Thank you for this video . Newest version is 1601 . I mannaged to get the screen where says USB device found . Reading file. However it's been a while and nothing else hapends. Just the "_" blinking. Is this ok?. Is it any difference which USB port do I use?. Right now I am using the left side USB port.

Прошил 1015PD, используя SD 32Mb. Где-то предлагали создать на USB, небольшой логический раздел, метров 10.

A MIGHTY THANKS man, I did the same thing before but with "FAT32" and it got stuck at "Reading file" BUT "FAT" works like a charm

Hi, i need to update bios from my asus eee pc 1215B. I have windows 10, but on Asus.com I can choose only windows 7 or 8 from the list of Bios. What can I do?
-
really clever! But if not able to find <=4 GB stick go with AFUDOS instead
-
thank you SO MUCH. this worked like a charm! I couldn't find a 4gb flashdrive (apparently they don't make them anymore), so I winged it with a 8gb flashdrive and it worked. I'm on windows xp SP3

Extract, rename files in 900.ROM (for other models of Asus EEE Pc xyz file name will xyz.ROM)
We create the image of our future stick
dd if = / dev / zero of = mytestfile.out bs = 1 count = 0 seek = 10M
Reformatting it to FAT16
mkdosfs -F 16 mytestfile.out
Mount
mount -o loop mytestfile.out / mnt /
Copy the file to 900.ROM
unmount
umount / mnt
Write the image to a USB flash drive
dd if = mytestfile.out of = / dev / sdc -
I'm trying this update and it's saying reading file for hours (literally) is this normal?

I was very afraid because the process was doing very slowly, but worked perfectly. many Thanks you!!!

Hi! I did everything as said, it keeps repeating:
Checking for USB device
USB device found
Reading file "1005HACG.ROM" (I'm sure I renamed it properly to 1005HA.ROM!)
File "1005HACG.ROM" not found on USB Device!
Any solution? Thanks in advance! Your channel is awesome btw, found so many useful thingies here :) -
Well It didn't work for me with my 4gb and 16GB USB with the same settings and name, I tried all the BIOS above BIOS v0801 all returned with 1005HA.ROM NOT FOUND and looped until restart. Then after a day triing I found MicroSD with 512MB did the same settings, copied BIOS v1601 renamed 1005HA.ROM and worked perfectly. I needed It for better wifi performance.
(FYI: Anyone having an Asus Eee PC 1001HA like me, has to rename the rom file to 1005HA.ROM not 1001HA.ROM #justasusthings )
