  6. Hi, I am wondering if I "have" to use the automatic backup option? Since I am only backing up few things from an PC, can I just drag the files from a PC folder into the My Passport file holder and back up the few files that way?
  7. Im using mine to store a full system image through windows. When I try to restore using the image in the recovery environment it says it needs a driver. Where can I find this driver? and how can I use it to restore using the image. Thanks
  8. I am having the same problem as ann W-Fitz. There is no window popping up showing "Select Backup Source and Back Up Target"
  9. The problem is after owning this WD My Passport device - Backup is no longer an available option.
There is NO tab, no action for it... nothing. Suddenly I no longer can backup. I have used less then 1/2 the available space. When you go to WD's website to send an email you get an error that it can't do it. I have spent too much time researching the subject but apparently no one else has had the backup function no longer an option.
  10. Hi--

I bought this hard drive today, but it seems it's only letting me backup my entire computer when I only want to back up a few key files. It says to pick specific files I have to upgrade to the the pro version. Is this correct or am I missing something?

Today I hooked-up WD Mypassport Ultra 1TB (metal, silver) to my Windows 10 laptop, and did a full-pc backup . The procedure you indicated worked (The last 1/3 had DIFFERENT pop-up windows; it worked all the same). I have setup a monthly backup.

Now I have a "follow-up" question> If and when I want to copy/transfer files "from" the WD device TO a different PC (all my spare PC's are Windows !0) , then what would be the step-by-step procedure ? Can you suggest a tutorial ??

Your tutorial is well planned and presented !
I note that you are a British gentleman. I did much of my doctoral research at Cambridge University. I am an American citizen of India origin.

I just watched your tutorial; and will test it on my laptop in the next few days - I will keep you posted.

By the way, what is your email address ?

    Thanking you,

  13. Clicked on My Passport. None of the things you mention appear. Also tried Time Machine on my Macbook laptop. Nothing happened. I installed the WD utilities and it is in my apps folder, but I cannot get it to do anything.
  14. Non of this happened for me. I only got to click on the blue icon and then it didn't open up the backup option,
  15. Does the device need to be attachted with the USB in order to do the continious back-up, or can it be done via bluetooth or in other ways as well?
