This is the sixth in a series covering live cd's. You may also have heard them referred to as rescue disks or bootable disks. Live cd's are very useful to technicians who are working on a computer that will not boot into Windows, or when they are working on a computer that is so badly infected with viruses that a typical antivirus can't remove them effectively. Live cd's are also great for data recovery, password recovery and resets and diagnostics as well. If this video helped you, please like. Subscribe to receive updates on newly released videos. I would suggest downloading the ISO image, burning it to disk, and playing around with the program to learn it's features and capabilities. If you are having trouble or don't know how to burn an ISO to disk, please see my video on Imgburn. Thank you for watching. Have a great day !!! 1. I had a defective .bkf file. I was able to use Systools to recover the data, however the data is not in the correct locations. Can Hiren's put things back in order...ie pictures in My Pictures, documents in My Documents etc. I made a short video if you want to see it look up geezersinc on YouTube. Thanks for any help you can offer.
  2. Thanks for your help. I've finally got this HD to a usable state. I'll keep it for storage only. Thanks again. Great videos!
  3. Youtube won't let me post a link in the comments. If you look up Linux Mint Change forgotten User/Admin Password without knowing the Admin Password, you will find the video.
  4. Thanks. Can you post a link?
  5. Yes there is, you can either do it from the command line or through the GUI. I have videos on both of these.
  6. Apparently I never did set up this HD as an Administrator, so I cannot do the scan. Is there a way to enter Administrator info? Thanks for your help.
  7. OK. I'll try it and let you know what happens.
  8. Before you create another partition try running sfc /scannow in the command prompt. Make sure you are running as Administrator (right-click on command prompt icon and click Run As Administrator). Type it in just like I showed you....sfc /scannow.
  9. I was using Avast anti virus and it deleted what was supposed to be a virus. Since then my registry has been messed up. Can Hiren's fix the registry? I cannot even get online. I'm thinking of making another partition and installing XP on that partition so at least I can go online. Thanks for the video.
  10. That is strange. So it shows the folders but you are unable to access them ? Or were you finally able to retrieve the data ?
  11. Not that I know of. You may want to try to use the Linux Environment, or try a different live cd like WinPE or BartPE.
  12. Is there a way to run chkdsk from this tool? Basically, i can't launch the mini xp as it just goes to the blue screen. So was wondering if there's an option somewhere there to chkdsk without having to login to the mini XP
  13. There are a few good HDD low level formatting tools out there. It won't let me post the link in this comment, but if you go to a website called MajorGeeks, it is safe and they will have what you are looking for.
  14. What brand of computer are you running ? If you go into recovery and enter the command prompt from there, you can use the net user command to change the password. I have a video out on this. The Change NT Password option in Hiren's Boot CD sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. You could use Mini XP in HBCD to access the command prompt and run the net user command from there, I've done this in the past and it has worked.
  15. I have used Hiren's Boot CD for password recovery in the past and it worked. I used Mini Xp to access the command prompt and then used the net user command to change the password. I have a video on how to change a forgotten password in Windows. What operating system are you using ? If you can get to your recovery console (probably f8) then to the command prompt, you can run the net user command from there also without needing HBCD.
  16. Hey! I got a problem. I have forgot my HDD password. Does this "HirensbootCD" work? And how to use to remove the password?
  17. Your welcome.
  18. Did it!! thank you sir!!
  19. I've used it once and it worked for me.
  20. I never noticed that, you're right it almost sounds like I'm trying to throw some lines down. LOL !!
