  1. Nope, didn't work, luckily disk utility gave the option to download a fresh captain and install on the ssd. Still, way the hell too overcomplicated. Problems are a function of which machine, i.e. MBP 5.2
  2. Thank you so much, this is exactly what I'm looking for! All the other videos show people using third party software to do this...My story is long, but im having problems with my new 1TB SEAGATE SSHD, it only worked for a couple weeks and now my computer will not boot up with that SSHD, after reading for endless hours i find alot of people complaing about the same thing with this drive! it has something to do with the SATA speeds of the new drive in these macs with older sata with slower speeds! so I just bought a new SSD to replace this brand new SSHD that will not work in this mac! ...My computer shows the SSHD when I boot into recovery like this but it will not boot normal with it installed, but boots perfectly fine if i put my old 250 GB HD the computer came with 6 years ago! So i am hoping this will work for me when trying to clone the SSHD to my new ssd!
  3. I'm getting the error "Source volume is read write and cannot be unmounted so it can't be block copied"

    Please help!
  4. I watched it and liked it. Just don' know if I can partition for MSDOS and recover an SSD used exclusively for bootcamp that has a W10 on it. Can I go the same way just changing to the proper partition? thanks a lot. I like the music too. :)
  5. What happens if the target disk is larger than my SSD?
  6. You don't need to boot into OSX Recovery to clone a drive, you can do it in Disk Utility in OSX.
I realize you're probably "assuming" cloning of the system drive, but this is not mentioned in the title or description - so it's just wrong
  7. Will this allow the computer to boot up from an external SSD? I've heard on other posts that El Capitan may prevent this.....
  8. How can I also clone my bootcamp partition? Can I edit the size of the bootcamp partition on the new drive? I have El Capitan and a bootcamp partition of Windows 10 on my macbook pro. I want to clone both of them to my new SSD and then update my windows 7 to windows 10. Should I just erase my bootcamp partition and copy OSX to the new SSD and then setup a new bootcamp partition and install windows 10 via bootcamp? I don't care about my windows 7 files and programs. Please help!!
  9. Thank you.
  10. Does this work with boot camp? Thanks
  11. Perfect clone, just drop it in and fire it up. Nothing to do than enjoy more space and faster everything if you put in SSD.
  12. so this clones your complete hard drive to an external hard drive that then can replace the internal hard drive - will all my applications work as well.
  13. My original Mac is 250G and the target SSD is 240G. Failed because target is smaller even though only 150G used.
What can I do ? Help.
  14. This video is perfect. Concise, to the point and more effective than any other tutorial out there. Thank you for posting this.
  15. excellent
  16. The question I"m having before I begin this is ... Is it a must to clone the drive or can I just restore from the (Time Machine) backups on my external drive ?
  17. Worked like a champ for me today. Took just over 4 hours to clone my 1TB Factory HD to a 1TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD. Swapped the drive and booted right up. Make sure you reselect your SSD in Start Up Disk under system preferences or you will have the white screen longer than expected as your mac is searching for the drive. I also enable Trim after I was done. This drive is smoking fast.
  18. I am getting a restore process failed popup. I then notice my HDD i am restoring from more than doubles in size to way over the limit of the new ssd. Can i get some help please.
