Hi my name is Roger Ahuja and I'm going to take a couple of minutes here and show you how to make a Windows 8 Recovery disk. You start by pressing the start button on your keyboard or you can also go to the bottom left of your screen and we're going to do a search for recovery here and go to settings and here is an option to create a recovery drive. When the user account control pops up. Go ahead & press yes. And here you will typically going to have a recovery partition that the PC manufacturer offers. This box will typically be checked. In my case it's not because I wiped out the recovery partition and loaded a clean installation of Windows 8 not from the manufacturer. If this box is checked, it will just copy the recovery partition, it's not going to give you an option to create it on a CD if this box is checked or a DVD. So, you're going to have to uncheck that if you want a generic windows 8 disk. If you want a windows 8 recovery disk that is from the manufacturer, then you will probably have to use a USB stick. So, I'm going to go ahead & click next here and now it's going to ask me for a USB flash drive that is at least 256mb and as it says that everything on the drive will be deleted. Now, I don't want to waste a USB flash drive for this, I would rather just use a blank CD or DVD. So, I'm going to click here for a CD or DVD option then it gives me a choice and I can hit create disk. That's basically it.

I was thinking if I made a recovery drive on my Asus, would it work to reinstall Windows 8 on his Toshiba. If not, what would be the next best thing to attempt. Thank you!

  19. Hi, I don't have that blue link in the bottom-left that allows the user to write the media to CD/DVD. I tried doing the wizard with the box (to copy contents of the recovery partition) both checked and unchecked. I want to do this because I also do not want to waste a USB flash drive on a recovery drive. I have a brand new laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad Y410P). Any assistance is appreciated, thanks!
  20. oh and if my laptop goes messed up can i use this to restore it to the way i bought it?
