How to download older versions of iPhone apps

Have you ever wanted to download an older version of an iOS app? Now you can using the handy Charles Proxy app for OS X. Note: Use at your own discretion. Be sure to close and remove Charles after you're finished downloading your apps.   1. Do you need to cancel downloading the app to get this to work properly? What if the app finishes downloads before I have a chance to click enable ssl proxying?
  2. Instead of "edit", it's now under "compose", just for anyone watching with the updated version of Charles. If you have edited the string and executed and it has only returned a handful of lines without giving the version, you've been timed out and just need to re-establish connection (I closed Charles, deleted the downloading iOS app and started again, only took a sec)
  3. After enabling SSL Proxying and try to download the app again it gives me the following message : "iTunes can't verify the identity of the server "p47-buy.itunes.apple.com". The certificate for this server was signed by an unknown certifying authority".
    Any suggestions?

  9. Very good video. Thanks. I still spent hours cursing the developer of Charles over how hard it was to get the SSL connection accepted. It's really not clear what to do (see below for the solution).

    I used Windows 7. There's no need to enter your admin password, for that.

    SSL set up was via the Help menu (I used Charles 3.x, as here, not the latest version).

    Help -> SSL Proxying -> Install Charles Root Certificate

    - but DO NOT accept the defaults, because it won't work!

    Press Install Certificates, and change from the default location to:

    "Place all certificates in the following store"

    Press Browse, then choose "Trusted Root Certification Authorities".

    - that step is essential.

    You will also need to right click each server involved, as it appears on the left hand side, and enable the SSL connection, but only the first time you do it.
  10. Does anyone know why it wouldn't say "edit" in the drop down menu? I'm using Windows 7 and when I right click to put the version I want in, it doesn't give the option to edit.

  16. This is awesome, it worked. Thank you very much! I also believe that you are using an older version of Charles which means that some of the names have been changed; for example 'edit' is now 'compose'. No biggie because its still really easy to find the new names
  17. There is no option to edit the buyProduct. What do I do? And also my process is called p54-buy-itunes, not p18-buy-itunes.

    Edit: Just found it. It's called compose instead of edit. Nvm
