  7. DIY perks? Wow again helping, but now with an old account!
I thought someone just copied one of your vids and uploaded it into his account...
  8. Matt? I saw you on DIY Perks a few minutes ago... I guess this account is older, you then grew up and skipped the cap. ;-)
A magnetized screwdriver will hardly affect the platters, it requires more magnetic force than that.
Swapping the board can help to recover the data but they usually contain an error list that isn't the same on the two drives so I wouldn't recommend to keep using the repaired drive - just get all the data you need from it.
  9. I'm giving this a shot! Thanks!
  10. does this work when the drive is clicking and not hitting as it spins?

  16. ive got a 1TB Toshiba external hard drive i dropped it (in its case) on my desk into a jug of about 2&1/2 inches of water for no less then a couple seconds as i was quick to pull it out but it was quite a bang as it hit the surface. then when i next tried it it was making a clicking noise, i sent it to a company called fields-data but unfortunately later learned it was a scam company i desperatley need all my data back as its very important for work reasons, i dropped it back in july (2016) but need it back ASAP ive tried the hard drive recently and it still lights up when i plug it in but now theres no clicking noise what would best suggest i do?! thanks
