How To Initialize A PS4 (Reinstall System Software)

In this video, you can see how to easily reinstall the PS4 system software using the method recommended by Playstation Support. While it may seem like a grueling task, it is actually extremely simple and can be done quite quickly, so you can be back up and gaming in no time! You will need: USB stick with at least 1GB of free space, a controller, the USB connector that came with your console, a computer with internet, and of course, your PS4 console. Step 1) Open your computer, navigate to your USB device. Within the device, create the file "PS4", and then the file "UPDATE" within the "PS4" file. (If you need to format your USB stick but dont know how, skip to 17:00 to learn how!) Step 2) Download the system software from here https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/system-updates/ps4/ Step 3) When download is complete, copy the file to the "UPDATE" folder you created in the previous step, and ensure the name is as follows "PS4UPDATE.PUP" Step 4) Eject your USB stick from computer, and plug it into the PS4 console. Step 5) Boot your console into safe mode (to do this hold the power button past the first beep, until you hear a second beep, roughly 7 seconds after the first beep) Step 6) Once in safe mode, connect your controller to your system via the USB connector that came with your console (if you dont have it, a blackkberry cord works as well) Step 7) Press the "PS" button on your controller and a menu will come up containing 7 options, choose Initialize PS4(Reinstall System Software) Step 8) The PS4 will locate the file we created on the computer and take the "PS4UPDATE.PUP" file and install it. Step 9) When this is complete the console will reboot into the usual screen you're used to Step 10) Step up as if first time use, sign in with your usual credentials and you are all set! 10 easy steps to get a fresh install of the system software, easy as that.   1. Be sure to A) format your drive as shown B) ensure the path is EXACTLY as shown as the PS4 looks for the specific path, any modification will cause an error to occur. C) Ensure your USB stick is at least 1 GB or has at least 1 GB available space.

  7. Please reply! I've downloaded the update and copied my online storage onto my USB so I won't lose anything! Everything is exactly how it's supposed to be!

    Everything's good right?!?
    But when I insert my USB into my PlayStation and click the
    "Initialize PS4 (Reinstall System Software)" and when I click it, it says I need a USB that contains the 4.07 update! IM SO CONFUSED! I already have the update on my USB and it's says that I apparently don't have it!
