  3. hi i have a buffalo ministation and i didn't format it at all , it works fine on both my mac and pc i can just put my files easily . But i want to buy the Buffalo MiniStation USB 3.0 1 TB Portable Hard Drive (HD-PCF1.0U3BB) from amazon i was wondering SHOULD i format it as i didn't do this ever before . Would like to know what you think ??

  5. Unlike some other comments, I found this video to be very useful. Taught me about setting partitions in a hard disk and I liked that you spoke of the pros and cons of different formatting options. E.g. Exfat possibly not being so great for time machine.

  13. Hey! Great Video. Not sure if I missed it, but if I wanted to have a TimeMachine, a Partition that is for PC and somewhere to put MAC Files would you do 3 partitions? or would you just do the 1 partition with PC/Mac and 1 partition for Timemachine?

  15. i just got a new 4tb WD external hard drive and i just formatted on my Mac to a MS-DOS (FAT) so i can use it to transfer stuff from both of my PC and Mac. but when i formatted it it made my hard drive storage go all the way down to 1.8tb available. how do i fix this? there is nothing stored in it after i erased it.
