  7. I don't get how it doesn't work for me. I've turned off the phone completely, then held the home button for 10 seconds then I put in the cable. But it just directs me to the lock screen

I have a question..i got a gift from a friend which was an iphone 6s plus and it was currently dead so i charged it and it says it needs a password to unlock it..but he doesnt know that password and either do i..and he doesnt know his itunes and it currently doesnt have service...how do i unlock it so i can change the password and update everything?
