  15. OH MY GOD BLESS THIS VIDEO. THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU. I tried literally everything (temp folder, terminal, spotlight, finder, contacted apple, downloaded a crappy app, verified my disk, EVERYTHING) because I lost my entire research paper-- it completely disappeared...THIS ACTUALLY FOUND IT!!! here's how to RECOVER THE FILE IN THAT MOMENT THOUGH: I, like a lot of you, was really confused when I got to the "modify" page as to how to get the file...the way to do it is DON'T MAKE THE NEW FOLDER!! Instead, just locate the file you want on the list of recovered files and DRAG IT TO YOUR DESKTOP...the folder thing helps for the future (as people mentioned) but didn't move my already existing file. At first I was still panicking because my file was grayed out and wouldn't let me open it, but that doesn't actually mean anything. You just need to drag it to your desktop, and FROM THERE DRAG IT ONTO AN OPEN EMPTY, WORD DOC, where it will appear in its entirety and you can then sacrifice your firstborn to the computer gods in payment, as I plan on doing.
