What is corrupted system drive hard drive? When you find your hard disk does not responding anymore , when you're trying to boot from it and then it stops and you can't access it.   6. Thanks a lot for this!  I'm going to try it on my desktop that had Win XP Media Center, so hopefully everything works. 

    Also, on a slightly related note, the screen on my Win 8 laptop stopped working, and I would like to retrieve the data from their as well.  Any recommendations? Thanks again!
