How to recover deleted files in Ubuntu #12

When a file is deleted from your computer it is not really deleted. it still exists and it's possible to recover even if you empty the trash. In this video I demonstrate deleting files and recovering them using Testdisk (Photorec) in Ubuntu. - This will work as long as the space where those files are was not overwritten - Comments and suggestions are always welcomed.

  2. Nice, this indicates clearly that if you move to trash and then empty trash - you can still recover the files.
  3. what is the file I am trying to recover is not a picture. Do I still type "Sudo photo" or what should I type into terminal to do this. I am trying to recover an edit on a video, not yet exported. Thanks buddy!

  6. yeah thats a flash drive...how about 3324 files in a 294GB external HDD?   you know and i know thats not quick..thats two days of scanning keeping my computer on

  8. Do this work with portable devices like a camera (no partition in windows) is it possible that it works in Ubuntu? it is the internal memory i need to scan.
  9. also i cant seem to delete the folder the pictures are recovered to because i tryed but it wont alow me i tryed to change the permission, but it wont let me os apparently im not the owner whats going on :S

  18. when inresized it because i had more free space gparted crashed and now cant recover it in any way.
  19. it was an ubuntu extended partition with root and home.
  20. i had check partition with testdisk and pressing deeper check but it says that can't recover partition.
