  1. What I do before doing a long process and go to system preferences, then energy save and slide to never. When I start doing the long procedure then I just lower the brightness and that works.
  2. Oh my goodness, I can't believe it actually worked. You are and angel. It did not work with a thunderbolt cable but the firewire did the trick. I am so happy. Thank you for saving me a lot of money and headache!!!!
  3. I am trying to transfer to my new I mac from the old one that died with a thunderbolt cable, but the new iMac is not reading it at all, not in the disk utility either. Does it have to be a fire wire cable? and if so, where do I get ahold of one?
  4. Can you recommend a file retriever software? I have an external 1T HD that corrupted. I couldn't write to the drive but was able to get into it for awhile copy files to another disk. But I missed getting my all-important PROJECT FILES!!! I don't know why; all I can say is synapses were not operating that day. When I tried to get the drive to mount again, nothing.

  7. My hard drive on my G5 is basically dead and has been in storage. Applecare only lasts 3 years. Last time I had to pay drivesavers thousands of dollars to recover my files for the same type of problem. You saved me thousands with this video. Tried so many other videos and forums, but this one put me on the right track and hopefully in an hour I will have all of my files secured onto an external drive.

  8. Hi I tried to recover from Macbook air to other through thunderblolt. I reach upto a point where if shows the big thunterbolt sign but doesnot give options to transfer the data. can you helps plz
  9. You saved me about 300-500 bucks my friend. Thank you so much for uploading this. Apple store said "there's nothing we can do, you have to take it to a data recovery specialist." Yeah... 'Genuis' bar my ass. Took me about an hour to recover all the data that I needed.

    My Snow Leopard iMac's hard drive seems to have failed, and when I start up the machine, it fails to find a start up drive, and I get the flashing question marked folder.  Would this technique work for a desktop computer as well?
