A How to Guide on How to Recover Lost, Deleted, Overwritten, or Formatted Data? I accidentally moved a folder from my Hard Drive to my USB drive instead of copying it. That's the same as permanently deleting a folder on Windows a computer. Since that happened I formatted the USB drive and copied to it many times, before I realized that I moved my folder over. Luckily I was able to use a Data Recovery Software by Ontrack Called Easy Recovery Professional Version 6. The version I used is not made for Windows 7 or Windows 8, so I had to use the Windows Compatibility mode by right clicking on the shortcut and choosing Windows XP. With the data recovery program I was able to recover all of my files even though I formatted the USB drive at least once and copied files to it to it's maximum capacity at least twice. That software is quite good at recovering data. I didn't think that I would be able to make such a good recovery because of all the use I put the drive through. 1. Ok
  2. I actually don't use instant boot anymore because it interferes with the shutdown process. Plus I use an SSD boot drive, so my computer boots up in less then 10 seconds anyway. The SSD makes a huge difference.
