READ!!! I missed a step. Once you are on the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEM step, open 'system' and then continue on... SORRY... If you are using vista or windows 7, go to storage instead of storagedevicepolicies. This video is going to show you how to remove the write protection on a usb key. Sry I didn't put any music in it, I didn't want my computer to lag. Hope you enjoy.

  1. IF YOU DON'T HAVE STORAGEDEVICEPOLICIES:

    Step 1
Click the “Start” button, type “regedit” (without the quotation marks)
in the Search Programs and Files box and press "Enter" to open the
    Registry Editor.
    Step 2
    Navigate to
    “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies.”
Right-click "WriteProtect" and select "Modify." Change the Value Data
    to “0” and click "OK."
    Step 3
Add “StorageDevicePolicies” if it does not exist. Select the "Control"
folder in the left navigation pane. On the “Edit” menu, point to “New”
and click “Key.” Type “StorageDevicePolicies” (without quotation marks)
and press "Enter." Right-click in the right pane, point to "New" and
select "DWORD (32-Bit) Value." Type “WriteProtect” (without quotation
marks) and press "Enter." Close the Registry Editor.

  5. So....this is like the 10th time watching a tut on how to remove the write protect on a USB using this bull shit method. Nobody has this so called "storagedevicepolicies" and using the "key" to add in that name makes things more complicated. I'm guessing there is no real way in solving this problem.
