  1. Hi FreeNAS Team, fantastic, I had a broken disk this week and was very nervous, because I was not able to import my ZPOOL anymore. After replacing the disk and doing as discribed in the tutorial , resilvering started. All is fine now. Well done to you and well done to the Team of creating FreeNAS.
  2. Thanks for this! a demo on how to work with the hotswap would also be good? Is there such a one out there? (We bought a large "Archive" size
  3. Thanks, great tutorial.
  4. Well, that was as clear as mud
  5. +FreeNASTeam hi great video, was wondering what the process for to add extra storage?
  6. so just replace the disk? and hit replace I assume you shut your system down first, swap the failed disk and then hit that replace button? hot swap possible? few guides show the proper steps on how to do this haven't found one yet thought
  7. Thank you for the guide! I didn't do this 100% since my drive wasn't dead but dying. The Console warned of SMART errors and told me to replace the drive ASAP. Else everything was the same.
  8. Nice video but my problem is my drives are jammed into an old PC case can't really be digging around in there while those other drives are spinning. I need to power it down can I take the drive offline then power the system down or can I just power down and replace the drive?
  9. I need to set up a NAS device on my lan. I have multiple users downloading torrents at any time during the day which causes network hick ups for other users. So I want to instead direct them to a NAS device where they could log in and add torrents. So I was wondering if FreeNAS can prevent regular users to change the settings in the torrent client. For instance I would set it to be active for only two hours during the night time and it is essential that no one can change that.
  10. No, rubbish tutorial video. Please, write a script then read it to your girlfriend / mother / daughter and see if they understand. If not, rewrite it.
In this video, you replace a drive but it doesn't say that you shut the PC down, whether it a hot-swap spare, what the other drive was etc.
Its a bit confusing, as is the voice-over guy's stacatto delivery and random pauses in the middle of phrases.
Lastly, if you want people to use a product, don't show shell at all. Just say 'All these features can be accessed in the shell by advanced users / for scripting' etc. as DOS text scares the crap out of end users, and thats who you want to attract.
Over all, a great product, I may well install it tonight! :o)
  11. if the drives were in raid 5, will it start rebuilding the array when the failed drive is replaced?
  12. Great tutorial videos. How about a video adding SSL certificates and CA certificates? I think it's very important videos to show how to set them up for security reasons. Thanks.
