If you are getting recovery/BSOD errors when trying to restore your Asus laptop by the F9 key after migrating from HDD to SSD or by accidently modifying your partitions, this video will show you how to perform a Windows Recovery of your system to restore the computer back to factory defaults. Important: This process does NOT fix your F9 Asus recovery mode. It is an alternative method to restore your computer through Windows Recovery mode; this method does not rely on Asus recovery mode. In order for this process to work you will need: - Restore OEM Recovery Partition (~20.01GB) (As long as you did not delete this partition, this fix should work for you) - At least ~20GB of free space on your hard drive - A USB or DVD disks + External DVD Drive - EaseUS Partition Master Free (or equivalent partition manager) This alternative method avoids BSOD errors such as: 0xc0000225 Asus Laptop featured in this video: S400CA This method may also work with other manufacturers' laptops who have specified their own function keys to initialize a propriety recovery mode.

  2. How do I restore this PC if I can't even get access to windows? its completely broken I tried reseting to factory settings but my drive is locked, I tried the enable CSM launch from my bios and I still cannot unlock or find the drive partition
  3. Not Free. Cant copy the partition!
  4. just solved the same problem with macrium reflect, first software i tried that actualy cloned the recovery partition like it should be cloned
  5. What if you came to delete the recovery partition when you upgraded to windows 10?
  6. I will recommend a better technique that will work. With some Brand name systems such as Dell, Asus etc. They protect the drive so you have to enter your Bios setting  such as pressing delete to enter it then within they Bios change some feature that allow you to regain the option to factory reset when you press F9
    ** Disable Secure Boot
    Enable Launch CSM

Go to Boot to UEFI  mode then save then F9 will work
  7. Thank you! one thing I should mention is that this did not work at first. I had to hold down shift and run "changehd" as an administrator.
  8. I did everything, then when I pressed apply it asked me for a serial number... I thought this was free?
  9. I hope somebody will help me here.

Well, as a gift, my parents gave me Asus X55C, a f*ckin uncommon model in here, in Poland. First problem is it was bought in ITALY... it came with everything in italian and it was a serious problem since I speak only English, polish, and spanish. So basically both the system and the boot options such as recovery, refreshing system and others were italian. I was using it normally after downloading polish language pack for system - Windows 8 x64 Pro, and then I remember I changed something in bios while I was completely drunk - it caused no boot. Ok, so it was packed and sent to the seller (private person here in PL, I suppose it was bought in IT cheaper and sold for a lil bit more. So it came back working as it should, I remember that I installed Windows 8.1 update. And after some time I did something again and I was that mauch pissed off I installed Windows 10 preview (because I dont know italian a bit so i couldnt use restore or recovery options, I was too afraid to break something) and it was working just flawless before the updates started, many many things stopped working or was working not the way it should. So I wanted to do a fresh installation of Windows. After tries, some blood, tears, liters of sweat and thousands of curses it came out I need legal Windows 8 Pro OEM x64, I of course found my license key which is not necessary, because it is stored in deep BIOS. But I have no way to find the clean image I need on web, and also I tried everything to run recovery, but of course it doesnt work. Now I did copied the recovery partition and I am wondering how to boot from it, because in bios I have 2 options - Windows Boot or something close and my DVD drive. I am very tired of fighting both Windows and Asus, and if anyone knows the solution to restore the recovery image I have on real and / or copied partitions, please give me hint how to do it.
I would be very very graceful for that good deed.

  10. That. Doesnt. Work. At. All. :/
  11. This does not seem to work. Once I apply the changes, the software restarts the machine but fails. It gives error 8196 and upon pressing any key enters windows again with no changes made to any partition.
