Have you purchased a new Windows 8 PC or have tried to reinstall Windows 8 for some reason and then discovered there is no license key sticker on the case? I have, at first i thought the label was missing.After doing little research, i learnt that, Microsoft have changed the license key setup with Windows 8 and now with PC shipped with Windows 8 the key itself is buried within the BIOS. This means that if you try and set up a fresh installation of Windows 8 on the machine the activation process will fail as it will try to use the default key buried in the Windows installation. While reinstalling/fresh installation of windows 8, it is supposed to automatically pick the product key from system's BIOS and activate the windows without the need to enter the product key manually.But some times it may not automatically pick the key. I just did a factory reset on my Acer Aspire laptop and noticed the product key is different from the one on the sticker under my laptop. When I did the factory reset it didn't ask for the product key, it just added one it's self, is this okay? I don't know if I should change it to the one under my laptop or not. PLEASE HELP ASAP!!I'm a complete novice on computers, it took me ages to get the nerve to try the factory reset.
