What to do.. can seem to find anything on google -
thanks man, worked like a charm.
I got this error: ERROR: Failed to detect compatible download-mode device.
And i solved it with this: http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/51198/heimdall-errors-error-failed-to-detect-compatible-download-mode-device
I transferred the file with haimdall whilst the phone was in download mode and tadaaaa! :)
Thanks. -

This doesn't work. You first have to type : sudo heimdall flash RECOVERY --recovery.img INSTEAD OF : sudo heimdall flash recovery --recovery.img
When i install superSU, there is an error : it's can't recognize E signature. Then : reboot, and superSu doesn't install. So what can i do? -
I tried this on my Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (desktop version) and modified terminal command to: sudo heimdall flash --recovery recovery.img --no-reboot then manually removed the cable of flashing completed, removed the battery, then put the battery back again, pressed volume up + power + home button, and yes, go into CWM. Then installed the supersu zip file I previously copied on the phone's internal storage. Everything seemed fine. When I rebooted the phone, a message "Updating Android apps" appeared. Then when I launch SuperSU and attempt to update it, installation failed. I installed Root Checker, and the phone wasn't rooted. When I attempt to enter CWM via power + vol up + home button again, the CWM is nowhere to be found, with the stock recovery with the android belly showing up. Very frustrating! Help!

ERROR: failed to initialise protocol!
What should I do? -
So I've gone through like 150 repetitions of this process with variations, I've come to only one conclusion - this fails. The package you have listed for download doesn't have CF-Root zip file . . . downloaded that, ran download again. Even used suggestions in the comments at the website (about the --no-reboot option and pulling out battery , which did give me the CWM recovery menu, and installed zip). And nope . . .all this time when I get to SuperSu, it tells me I'm mising su binary . . . anybody has an idea how I could fix this ?

Worked pretty great, just use --RECOVERY instead of --recovery and done
-
I got a problem when I m doing the Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery it says that there is no command ? Can anybody help me ?

Is there someone I can send my S3 to, and pay them, to install Ubuntu?? I REALLY want to get off these easy-to-spy-on/hack/override OS systems.
I'm serious. I want to get out of all this mega-corp BS with all their 'backdoor, government co-op agreements'..
Thanks -
you are missing the cf root download file thats why people are having problems

-
