Curtis Bisel http://www.ScanYourEntireLife.com ==| SUMMARY | ========================================= This tutorial will show you the secret trick how to safely move your iPhoto libary to another hard drive. Do it wrong and you might accidentally ruin your entire collection. Sometimes your scanned or digital camera photo collection is just so massive it takes over your entire hard drive. Maybe even to the point where it's now completely full! If you don't want to replace your current hard drive with a larger one, moving your photo collection to an emptier hard drive is always another option. ========================================================

  1. thank you sir!
  2. Nice and simple trick! I have my entire library synced with iCloud as well - will this maneuver have an impact here?

My original plan was to export my Library to a NAS drive with RAID, but have been convinced by friends and Internet forums not to do so, in that the Library file is a bit too complex to be stored and use via a NAS. Do you have any experience with this?
  3. This is an excellent tutorial. Thank you VERY much. I also just subscribed to your channel.
  4. OMG! This did not help at all! I followed the instructions step by step. Once my photos were on the external drive, I renamed and opened the new library as instructed. My iPhoto program would not open. Finally it made me update my iPhoto program and when I finally got it open nothing was there. I tried opening my photos from the external and it was a bunch of cache files, but not pictures. It's a mess now and I think I lost everything.
  5. you are god
  6. Hi Mate, I followed your instructions to the letter however when the new iPhoto's opens, all the pics are there, but the rainbow wheel just keeps spinning....then I do the option/comm/esc and its says that iphotos is not responding?? Any Ideas please? thanks John
  7. very helpful thanks
  8. I was told to use Symbolic linker because your method create problems when there is an iPhoto update.
  9. Thank you for this video! I am in the process of saving photos and videos of my baby on an external hard drive for the future when we want to look back on memories. Right now I have a mac and all of my photos are on there are labeled albums; can I save albums on an external? Also, can I later view the photos from the external on a PC even though they were originally saved from a mac? Thank you so much!!!! :))
  10. hi mate, i have this situation.
have too many photos and videos....a lot of videos.
I have a macbook pro with a 250 internal HD, im not planning on getting a bigger internal HD.
i have a LACIE 1TB and wanna put all my videos mainly....that way i could free a lot of space in my internal HD.
Can you help me with this? If i do the iphoto library copy u explain above would this solve my situation?
I would like to just move videos.
and I tried to move from photos on my mac to my LACIE icon on desktop and couldnt!
i had to drag the video to my desktop and then to the LACIE icon...
i will really appreciated any solution on this as I have no idea what to do.
I have and older backup done with time machine.
will do one more right now.
    thanks!
  11. I'm wondering-- since the term "iPhoto" is not how they refer to the photo stuff anymore (simply calling it "Photos" now) is the Library the same? Last time I upgraded iOS, I had to "Migrate my iPhoto into the new version, called "Photos."
I'm having trouble figuring out where to find this Library, I think because it may not be called what it was in 2011.
    Any help on that?
  12. Thank you, Friend!
  13. WOW.....thanks for simplicity. My GF owes you a BJ!
  14. watched heaps. didn't trust the others. thanks Kurtis
  15. Thank you SYEL! This is a comprehensive and clear explanation…very helpful for those of us who are 'visual learners.' My question is…can I move and delete portions of my library (like an album or an event) not the entire iPhoto library?
  16. Thank you for this short and great tutorial!
  17. Does this work with your videos in iPhoto as well?
