  1. Thanks Nick really useful and successful tutorial.
  2. was able to locate and transfer to an external hard drive. problem i have is when transferrjng from External hard drive to brand new windows 10 computer i encounter not enough memory error.. so itunes library and playlists are on new computer but songs cannot be located. any advise!?
  3. When consolidating my library I encountered the "Can't copy file name too long or invalid" issue which was a pain in the ass since I had 2000+ songs with no idea which ones were the offenders. After a long time of sifting through them I was fortunately able to work around this.

It still boggles my mind that Apple can create extremely user-friendly operating systems like iOS yet when it comes to their iTunes program it has always been so needlessly complicated.
As one of the few people who still likes to download and manage his music the way he has been since the iPod days, this video was a huge help. Thank you.
  4. Awesome tutorial! Very helpful since I'm going to need to do this very soon since I'll be getting a new laptop.

Will these steps also keep the Ratings that I have assigned certain songs (1-5 Stars). I ask because even though "My Top Rated" on iTunes is essentially a Playlist, it's actually made up of songs that I have given a 4 or 5 Star Rating and I would hate for those ratings to disappear because I love that "My Top Rated" playlist because I know any song that plays from that list is one that I love for one reason or another. I have over 400 songs that I've given a 4 or 5 Star Rating and I would like to hope/think that the ratings carry over.
  5. Kinda desperate here.
I have 2 partitions (C & D). The C drive is only used to install programs while all my multimedia is kept on the D drive. Since I installed iTunes (8 years ago) I chose my library to be kept on the D drive but the program itself it's located on C. What does this mean?
I have 2 iTunes folders on each drive and for my surprise the iTunes Media folder is located on C and its empty! The following folders: Music, Movies, Podcasts, Mobile Applications and Ringtones are on my D drive and inside the respective iTunes folder (not named iTunes Media). Not even Apple has solution for this!
  6. What do I do, If I neeeded to reinstal the PC and I could not make an Itunes backup?
  7. Thank you kindly. Helped me tremendously.

  14. Thank you so much. Your instructions are much better than when I tried to do this from the Apple support page!
  15. what do you do if your USB flash drive is smaller than the size of the files you have in iTunes?
