  2. Wait, SpinRite and all the thousands of hours and decades of work, only gets a "pretty good"? I'm affronted, you surely mustn't have even the slightest beginnings of a clue of how mind blowing and absolutely priceless this programme is - how much value you're getting. It's written in ASM by one of the worlds leading and absolutely most knowledgeable and precise software and hardware engineers who's forgotten more than most people will ever know about computing... and he merely gets a "pretty good"?!

  4. I'm confused as how to get the data off of the hard drive. So I ran step 2 on Spinrite and it completed by now I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. How do I retrieve the data off the hard drive so I could put the files on an external drive? I don't see this option.
  5. Have an older machine using IDE drives have you tried spinrite using adapters as in IDE to sata adapter? Or installing a sata card in the PCI slot. Would love to have a spinrite machine dedicated to running the program.

  7. I purchased SpinRite 6.0 and I had hell of a time trying to get it to work with no avail. :(
    There isn't a users manual for this SpinRite version. If I were you, I'd think twice on buying it. By the way, even though they say there's a money back guarantee if you aren't satisfied with the product, there isn't a place on the website site to complain about the product or instructions on how to get your money back. Plus all of the FAQ's are redundant questions and there isn't a place on the site that I know fo to leave your review. I want my money back.

  9. Hi - I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my PC a few months ago, started it up one day and got the error there was no OS system detected. I've tried a few ways to get it back and was not successful. I've just tried hooking up the drive to another computer via USB to try to read it and again not successful, it's just telling me it's corrupt and unreadable and asking to reformat. Of course I have all sorts of data on it I'm trying to recover. Will Spinrite work for me in this situation? And if so, once it's done, should the drive be able to start up Windows as normal?

  11. Spinrite does work! I used level 4 maintenance on a 250GB WD drive it corrected unreadable sectors with dynastat software it uses and updates the s.m.a.r.t. system. It took 15-20 hrs. on 250GB drive, which also depends on how many errors your drive has. I ran HD Tune Pro it reports health O.K. now, which use to say warning or attention on crc error count. I need to make a disc, because i installed spinrite on a usb flash drive with the win95boot. And, it takes about 45 minutes to discover mass storage devices and 15 minutes to select drive. But once started it runs fast, I've seen detect two errors that it fixed and they have never been reported again by HDD Scan 3.3 utility, WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic, or HD Tune Pro. (Spinrite works on magnetic problems, not drives that been physically abused, or have mechanical wear and tear on moving parts!)
  12. This isnt a tutorial, this is you just showing us what it does, I have spinrite downloaded, but now what? It says that I have to remove my operating system to get it to work.
  13. I have a laptop that keeps slowing down. I have reset it to factory setting because I thought it was a virus. But running a chkdsk I keep seeing bad sectors that it tries to fix. Will spinrite fix this?

  15. I have a Seagate 1TB External HDD. I deleted important photographs a while ago. I can see them in other recovery softwares but can't recover as I don't have the full versions. Can I recover deleted photos using Spinrite v6? My HDD works perfectly fine.

  17. my hp lap top i have a black screen with a white - at the top of left side of screen i cant go into safe mode nor can i do the recovery chkdsk /r it give me the message the volume appears to contain one of more unrecoverable problems will this program help me  i dont want to loss my picture on this computer 
  18. Hello, I need a hand here. The spinrite graph in DynaStat Data recovery doesn't move but it keeps collecting data samples. Also, on the Graphic Status Display the remaining time, the percentages and the times also completely stopped. Is there something wrong? or is it working just fine?
