For some reason ASUS thought it necessary to write that restriction into the software. So you can't restore your factory image onto a new bigger HDD or SSD. Please submit a support ticket to ASUS or write them an email demanding this restriction be removed from their software using the following links: Live Chat: http://www.asus.com/us/support/article/743 Phone: 1-888-678-3688 email: techsupport@asus.com Support Ticket: https://vip.asus.com/VIP2/Services/QuestionForm ~Until ASUS Fixes this Problem, I Recommend You Create Windows 8.1 Clean Install Media Using the Instructions in This Video: https://youtu.be/N0Tv0FaoR8U ~~Video Details~~ Depending on which model ASUS laptop you have, it may be more or less obvious how you are supposed to create your recovery media. Every computer owner should create a recovery media set, regardless of whether the computer already has a restore partition or recovery capability. This protects you should your Hard Drive ever fail, you want to install a new HDD with a Clean Factory install, or you want to sell your computer and restore it to factory condition. This video will walk you through the whole process. It's easy and painless. 1. Hi GadgetClass, To save the driver uses another pendrive?
  2. Note: As of February 2017, they still allow you to create SD recovery media, but they also still refuse to allow you to use the SD card directly, s yes, years later, they STILL haven't managed to address this GLARING oversight.

Also, Backtracker doesn't work with WIn10...this opens a whole new level of frustration, which is then compounded by their "official policy to not help customers with cloning/copying/restoration/SSDs/etc.." Of course, they'll happily tell you to send it in "for repairs" even though it's not "broken", and even though MANUALS for the UEFI, hardware, and OS would QUICKLY AND EASILY ELIMINATE 90% of most user's problems, and a full set of RESTORE/RECOVERY DISKS would probably take care of the other 10%.

BASTARDS! It's ACCOUNTANTS who are making these decisions...not people who understand that eliminating repeat business DECREASES their customer base over time!

ESC still works to bring up the boot menu. F2 still pops up your UEFI "BIOS" settings.
  3. Sir, Please make an updated video for asus with windows 10.
  4. I have an ASUS S56C (64-bit). Does this backup everything...not just the hard drive but the applications that I've accumulated to do my work? Or does this tutorial show how to restore my computer to the state it was when I purchased this laptop?
  5. man i have usb and when i select backup factory image it says the factory partition does not exist why please helpp mee
  6. Hi, can you do this for Windows 10?
  7. Hello! Thanks for the great explanation! I have a question, somebody already asked but I'm not sure of your answer on it.

I want to restore only the partition where windows is installed, want to save my files on the other partition (D: data as usual :) )

However, I don't see any step that is asking me about it. I'm at the screen where I click 'start' and I think it'll wipe off it all.
  8. I have an Asus laptop on Windows 10... can I set this all up on a non-asus windows 8 machine and then run it on my Asus laptop (Windows 10) ???
    Thanks for the video.
  9. Although I didn't find the answer I was looking for, I found inspiration. I have an Asus Q503 laptop that I wanted to remove the HDD with an SSD. Thanx to your video, I was able to make the following work for me. 1) Create a win10 recovery disk 2) create WIN10 install USB 3) replace HDD with SSD 4) Run install using both flash drives (recovery and Win10 Install) BTW I chose to format the new SSD and not Upgrade. 5) Run through WIn10 startup as new PC 6) Verify in Control Panel -> System&Security -> System that system is activated.
Why did this work? I have no clue! Will it work for you? I have no clue! Will the sun rise tomorrow? I have no clue!
Thanks to Gadget Class for giving me the inspiration to upgrade my new Asus laptop HDD to and SSD without buying a new Win10 license.
  10. will using the backup image after switching HDD to SSD make the recovery image partition that is already located on the hard drive?
  11. regrets buying an asus , they terrible screws , make upgrade ssd a nightmare
  12. thanks good video and good explanation .
  13. "Asus. In search of incredible" They haven't found incredible yet.
  14. Thanks for these tutorials. My question is how do I get two partitions C: and D: (for data) without breaking the recovery partition on the OEM HDD? I did the factory restore with Backtracker using my USB, but was never given the option. I have not upgraded to SSD (yet), and would like to set up another partition before I clone and do that. A clean install might require the OEM key on the motherboard, right? It's silly you cannot just repartition without losing something! I have the same ASUS in the videos, so you have been very helpful. Another question: You run a 2TB HDD in the Optical Bay. I'm thinking a 1TB SDD would be cooler and less noise (more expensive, yes). What do you do that it makes sense to have 2.5 TB storage? I have read that SSDs fill up fast for some reason. Is this true (no defragmenting) or just someone loading too much software on the SSD?
  15. Good Morning! Can somebody help me? I want to know if I can add to this notebook 8GB RAM, 1.5v
This notebook supports only 12 RAM?
You can vary the voltage of RAM depending on the place where it was purchased? (Colombia - Latin America)
    Thank you very much!
  16. I got a message saying "ASUS Backtracker does not support your system."
  17. You rock man!
  18. Nice video, subscribed and liked. What to do if you deleted the recovery partition without first backing it up and you do not know your windows key? (It is not printed on the box or on the computer anywhere)
  19. hi! what is the model of your asus laptop?
  20. My laptop came with windows 8 however windows 10 installed itself over a month ago continued using but now I what to reset my asus. Will this method also work for windows 10? Thanks in advance
