There will be no registry errors or all kinds of hidden programs running in the background that you are not aware of. However this video describes how to do it the second way, by cloning your existing system/HDD. I've made it about as easy and painless as possible so everyone can do it. 1. Great video, but I have an issue. You said they need to be MBR but my C drive and the SSD i'm using are both GBT. The computer is brand new, the Crucial SSD I took from my laptop. So right now I'm wiping all data and removing the partitions on the SSD. Do I still have to convert them to MBR somehow?
  2. Dear Sir. I needed to upgrade my beloved Sony Vaio notebook by installing an 1 year old 120gb Kingston SSD and
crashed into Kingston's hassle to make the system transfer to it. I am very grateful to you dear and distant friend for your invaluable help. I had tried everything and was already ready to do a windows7 fresh installation and those interminable Sony Vaio drivers when I found your video. People like you make the internet wonderful and human as it is.. Greetings to you from Porto Alegre city in South Brazil. By Hermes Cywiakowski
  3. Macrium is not seeing the new drive. My computer has a 120 gig sad and a terabyte hard drive. When I click clone it is giving me only the existing hard drive for the option. When I plugged in the new 850EVO 500 sad, the computer did make the noise that led me to believe it was recognized, but that is as far as I got. Any suggestions? Thanks very much.
  4. I've used this software previously where I had cloned my 1TB HDD to a 2TB SSHD and upon doing so, I ended up with a ton of unallocated space and it wouldn't allow me to extend the partition where my OS was, only create a new simple partition. How do I clone my drive where all of the space is only on one partition?
  5. Got a better price at crucial.com for the memory upgrade 8GB
  6. Great explanation! I was having issues cloning my Windows partition to my new SSD and Clonezilla wasn't pulling it off. This video showed me Macrium Reflect and I'm now posting this using my new SSD!
  7. "PC computer" lmfao
  8. Hi GadgetClass, I tried cloning to a ssd that I have plugged in as a USB drive using a drive adapter. Followed the steps percisely, it clone all three out of four of my partitions (C System, C-Restore and C-HP Tools) copied perfectly EXCEPT the C-Primary which I'm thinking is my Windows partition that probably has locked files on it because it didn't copy 10gigs (132.98g out of 142.98g). I changed BIOS boot order to boot from the USB first and received the blue screen of death. Both laptop dive and ssd drive are 500gig drives and I'm running under Windows 7. Anybody have any answers? TIA
  9. one question! I've a used SSHD from my old laptop and now i have a new laptop but this one has HDD.
Can i really replace the HDD of the new laptop with my old SSHD ? I did it once. When i checked it look like it would work, everything like games and programs from my old PC are showing on my new PC BUT for some reason the new PC isn't working correctly. Some buttons doesn't work when i pressed it, things are starting to activated by themselves, sometime the screen is freeze and all.
So i had to switch back to the HDD :(
If i factory reset my SSHD and then instal to my new laptop since i don't mind reinstall games, do you think it would run properly this time ?
  10. Well explained video 👌
  11. Worked exactly as you said. Thanks for the video!
  12. Your method is is very simple and clearly explained /thank You/ - I would like to use it to clone my old HD to new one . But I Have one problem. #1 - Recovery (None) -NTFS Primery box is not in blue but red color and it is about 3/16 - 1/4 " by the end of the box. Under the box I have the numbers: 9.64 GB/10.12 GB. Could You tell me please it is something wrong with this part of the hard drive or it is just not enough space for the recovery - if so how to make it bigger?
    Thanks for answer.
  13. I was having a hard time finding the right way to do this because everyone was suggesting I use Clonezilla...but I'm going from a TB HDD to a 250GB SSD...looks like Macrium will be the best free software to accomplish this. Thanks!
  14. When I do the cloning I have an extra 12.2 partition? Also when I try to clone it I get an error and it fails? Could you please help
  15. Thanks so much! I've been struggling with EaseUS Todo and AOMei Partition Assistant Pro - neither of which worked for me because my HDD had multiple partitions, some larger than the 120Gb target SSD. Downloaded Macrium Reflect and resized per your method and all it running just fine!
  16. Well explained and easy to follow. I had tried many other methods shown on youtube but my ssd simply would not boot up.Had to format my hard drive with every failure and I think I formatted it close to 10 times and was just about to give up when I stumbled onto this vid.One thing though, I don't think its necessary to shrink your partition to fit whatever you drag from the top as long as your disk has enough space to fit all the file from your source drive, unless you need to.I was downsizing to a smaller hard drive and it worked perfectly.I simply dragged everything to my new disc in the top(source) order.I thank you for your vid.Highly appreciated
  17. Which should I purchase to clone HDD to SSD? Inateck USB 3.0 to SATA III adapter or Good USB 3.0 2.5" HDD enclosure
  18. another point- squeeky clean install would be ideal except that at least with windows 7- the windows updates take days- and is very hard to configure to even get it working (provided you are installing a standalone windows 7 image- not a factory image)- windows 7 is notorious for being very difficult to get the update process working properly- You need certain KB updates, but in order to get those KB's you need previous KB's which of course you can't get because your update process isn't working- While there is a workaround- it's difficult=- and even once you get it working finally, the updates themselves take an excruciatingly long time and just scanning for needed updates takes forever- That's why i like to get all this done- go through the pain of getting it working- install soem specific drivers, and do a system backup right after- then install games, programs etc- get them all set up how you like, and do another backup- the first one I title 'clean install and basic updates'- The second one titled 'clean install with updates and programs installed'- this is hte one I will use for most basic system reverts- but if i ever want to get back to a fairly clean sleek image- i can as well-

If windwos 7 were easier to update- I'd definitely just reformat, and reinstall- no worries- but it isn't- it's awful- Windows updates is a real pain to deal with
  19. I read samsung makes you agree to them collecting information about 'disk usage' in their agreement process durign install- is that true?
  20. Hi gadget class would u be enough to make a video where the new ssd is larger in size as compared to original ssd installed from manufacturer in the laptop. Looking forward to this
