Keynote: Linux and Open Source Software: Applying the Learnings of the Past to the Future - Al Gillen, Group Vice President, Software Development and Open Source, IDC This presentation will take a look at historical IDC data showing the growth and adoption of Linux, and will use that data along with more recent research to illustrate how the much larger portfolio of open source software will likely progress and see widespread adoption going forward. About Al Gillen As Group Vice President, Software Development and Open Source, Al Gillen oversees IDC's software development research portfolio. Research disciplines in this group include developer research covering census, demographics and developer activities; platform and cloud application services for developers, and developer lifecycle and quality assurance products. In addition, Mr. Gillen jointly oversees IDC's DevOps research program, and runs a program focused on the ecosystem of open source software pan-industry.
