Buy it on Amazon - http://lon.tv/9asmt (affiliate link) - Lexar has a nice USB flash drive that doubles as a charger for iOS devices. But while it can download YouTube content it doesn't solve the problem of playing DRM protected iTunes content. The other end is a lightning adapter for iOS devices like the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Plugging an iOS device into the c20i while connected to a PC or Mac will charge the iOS device. When connected only to an iOS device files on the C20i can be accessed via a free app from Lexar. The app will play back video and audio files and has some limited note taking and recording capabilities. Unfortunately this won't solve the problem of playing back protected content that was purchased from iTunes or another online service. So this won't be a solution for offloading iTunes store purchases from an iPad or iPhone - the app simply can't play the files even if they are copied to the C20i from a computer. Non protected video files played back fine, including some MKV files encoded with the open source x.264 codec.Your mileage will vary of course. The ability to download YouTube content to the device is interesting - especially given that it doesn't require a lot of effort to make work. Just playing back the video on YouTube from within the Lexar app will download it the iPad or iPhone and it can then be copied over to the C20i. The only downside to this is that it will eat up the iOS device's storage until the file is moved to the C20i. The app itself feels a bit clunky and buggy. It does not have a landscape mode for its interface (although movies do play back in landscape mode). Additionally the app is not compatible with iOS extensions so it's not possible to edit and save files from external applications like Apple's Pages or Numbers. Lexar formatted the c20i with the Fat32 file format. This limits file sizes to 4GB each - not enough for HD movies. I was able to reformat the drive to exFAT and still have it be accessible by my iPad and iPhone. Bottom line? It's no worse than its competition and in some ways a little bit better. Like its competitors it won't play protected iTunes files and as such will not solve the problem that many consumers researching this product are hoping to solve. 1. the app only plays mov. movies now. No mpg4 i have to convert all my movies to mov
  2. On the USB end of this I could swear looks like there is a micro SD in, does that make sense you can take it out and put another one for more data storage?
  3. so this is a locked down USB OTG option
  4. Does not work with iOS 10!!!
  5. CAUTION! I reformatted the drive as you mentioned for ExFat, and the app said it was no longer valid, thus rendering the device unusable. Is there a fix for that?
  6. Hey Lon. I just bought This product and downloaded the app. There's no YouTube or vimeo tabs in the video section! Does that need to be activated in the settings or the developer removed it? You think?
  7. What about using a file manager app to access the content or even move it to the iPad/iPhone rather than using the Lexar app?
  8. Folks all you have to do in order for the .m4v files to work, is change file format on your laptop or desktop computer to .mp4 and it will work fine.
  9. I bought it for my sister after I saw this review. She says when she select backup option, the apps closes. When she select the files, transfering is OK. Writing is fast, reading is slow. Isn't it anormal?
  10. slow down when you speak , so can people understand
  11. Would this work for transferring videos I saved on my PS4 to my iPad? I would like to edit these videos using iMovie
  12. My computer is not recognizing it. It does not show up under Devices. It also does not show up in Disk Utility. I have tried both USB ports on my MacBook Air. Any suggestions?
  13. how can i move music from the drive to my phone? i cant see my media library as a destination??
  14. Did I hear that correctly? It won't allowed videos to be played in landscape mode?
  15. Lexar manufacturers all Drives no matter the size as Fat32 as it is a very general file format used in most all devices. You are correct when it comes to base line computers, Windows and Mac, Fat32 is a bit outdated, however other items with USB ports still require Fat32 most of the time, DVD plays, Car Stereos, TV's... Thus they make Fat32 so it can be used on just about anything you need it for.
  16. can the m20i no cable do the same
  17. Hey lon is do you have to charge it or something like that in order to watch movies on the ipad ?
  18. very useful
  19. Hi.  If I have MS Word on my Ipad pro will the app load, edit and save to the USB drive. ie is the drive visible to the productivity apps? Tom
  20. You can download MKV files to your idevice by using VLC player. Download VLC player, then go to iTunes, and load your MKV into the VLC Player storage. Then sync your device. Viola! Your MKV movie is loaded into your device. It will be in a list in your VLC App.
