  2. with the new DSM 5.X, the setup process has changed a bit. Updated info can be found @ https://www.synology.com/en-global/knowledgebase/tutorials/608
  3. Thanks for this, I've just moved from ReadyNAS to Synology and setting up TM was the only part that wasn't slicker but this explained it nicely.
  4. This would be resolved if Apple just let us set a limit on the amount of sequential backups.
  5. I'm finally setup. Thank you !
  6. Great! Very helpful. Thanks.
  7. Thank you. I was stuck and find your video very useful.  Good work.
  8. Thanks sir !!
  9. Thanks for the video. I've a question. If I have 4 MACs, can I use the same Share folder on the NAS for Time Machine backup?
  10. It would be great if it actually worked.  There seems to be something missing ahead of the first step.  As it is I have no option to select Time Machine in the Win/Mac/NFS area of the control panel.
  11. your wrong ranjit!
  12. Thank you very much
  13. Great video Ranjit :-)
    I have 2 questions.
1- what's that thing back there next to your disk station?
2- is there a way to backup a time capsule too the disk station?
i ask because i am looking ot upgrade my synology at work and might bring the old one home.  but i already have time capsule that's working well for my macs.  i would like to use the NAS to backup for non-OSX machines, but could i also use it to back up the single drive time capsule device?

    thanks!
  14. hey thanks for this and your other videos on setting up Synology NAS. They were a great help to me
  15. Have you migrated the TM backups from the old location to the new location before? Is it possible to have a journaled location to move the files onto the Synology?
  16. Me too. Did you find a solution?
  17. Clear, concise, easy to follow. Well done.
  18. What do I have to do in order for my DS to be treated as a normal HDD under OSX and not as a moutable media?
  19. Ok, went to Control Panel, Win/Mac/NFS, Mac File Service,,, There is no option to select Time Machine. Why?
  20. hi can you do back up on time machine outside network? Tx
