In this tutorial, I'll be going through the process of moving your Time Machine backups to a new hard drive. One thing that's been a constant in personal computing has been that hard drives will continually get bigger and cheaper. So it's inevitable that you'll one day want to relocate your Time Machine backups to a newer, roomier drive. 1. I get an error saying Modifying 4TB Seagat requires an administrator name and password.  To move "Backups.backupdb", click Authenticate. Then when I click Authenticate I get the error that says The volume has the wrong case sensitivity for backup.  My current Time Machine drive is Format Mac OS Extended Journaled (Case-sensitive) Should I reformat new drive to that?  Thank you
  2. Excellent video, but will this process work for Yosemite? Web sites seem to tutor only up to Leopard or Snow Lion.  Thanks if you can respond.  Jeff
  3. thankyou
  4. +Thoughtshots Hey, thanks for the video.  Any idea if you can do this with a drive that already has Time Machine backups on it?  In other words... I have two hard drives that both have different TM backups on them.  Can I move the contents of one drive to the other without issue?
  5. Yeah, I know...
  6. Time Machine doesn't exist on Windows.
  7. PLEASE TELL US HOW TO DO THIS ON WINDOWS!!!!
  8. I understood everything, and by no means is it bad pronunciation. I'm not ass kissing, I'm just letting you know that there is no cause for concern
  9. Hey Thoughtshots, Cool video! When trying to copy the backups.backupsdb file i get the error message: "could not be completed, unexpected error (code -1426). Any idea what this could be?
  10. Hi, please help, i don't have a box to unstick that says "ignore ownership on this volume" what do i do??
  11. Hey! I have a question: I own a macbook and an iMac, can I run two time machines a on one hard drive? Thanx!
  12. Yes! Thank you for making this vid. Very nicely done. Now I have an extra TB of breathing room. :D
  13. @itismesailor What? The explanation was completely clear. Were you unable to follow?
  14. Thanks for the tutorial - I knew there would be a permissions issue, and didn't want to screw with permission to make it work. I didn't have any problems with your narration - sounded fine to me. Perhaps @itismesailor has saltwater in his/her/it's ears.
  15. The guy commenting this video should be rewarded for the worst, really the very worst pronunciation ever heard. The purpose of an explanation should be that people clearly understand what is being said...
