If you have ever had your laptop stolen or left it at your buddies place and they swear they have not seen it or if you just like to play it safe then prey is for you. Here I talk about the open source free tracking program called prey. Prey is a software based mobile tracking program for your notebooks, smart phones, and tablets.   1. WiFi only. that's how I was using the Internet. prey claims it's best to have WiFi and data but not necessary.
  2. Prey sucks. In spite reporting my phone as lost to test it, Im easily using my phone like nothing happened. Prey is sending no reports. They are a fraud.

  4. Can you also record videos with the build in webcam of the thieve if my laptop gets stolen? Or does it only makes pictures?
  5. +Bishop Lamont If you are locked out of your primary device  the only way to recover it would be to use a second device and go to this link; https://panel.preyproject.com/forgot.  It will email you a reset password code to the email you attached to the service.  Once you log into your account online you can either change your password, or unlock the computer that is locked down.
  6. Just downloaded this and after the settings, it just locked me out and cant get in. I tried the password i used but yt still no help. Any idea how to recover the password? cause i have even tried the contact Prey but i'm not going through to them and i'm pissed
  7. i have this on my laptop, i can only sit and watch the people who have it. i let a friend use it to look for a job and he traded it for drugs. now im watching a drug dealer use my computer, and cant even really do anything cos he might shoot my house up or something. will police even help you once you have their picture, ip, location, screenshots, saved reports and all that?
  8. Great job on your very thorough and informative review about Prey! You helped me lean towards installing Prey on my laptop. I just learned a few tips for Prey users. 1. Password protect the Admin account. 2. Turn on the Guest account as a thief might use the Guest acct, so Prey can send reports as to its whereabouts, etc. 3. Disable booting from discs or thumb drives to prevent a reinstall of the OS. And lastly, password protect your BIOS so nobody can change that setting. Hope this helps.
  9. Not a virus or anything and works really well. Its not messing with my network at all and I checked for any rootkits a program like this would have. 100% safe and a retard could install it.
