Previous Versions, a feature available since Windows Vista, will recover old versions of folders on a computer making it possible to save deleted files and files removed from the recycle bin. This can also recover previous versions of files that have since been edited. This software feature was first introduced in Server 2003 as Shadow Copies, but is now known as Previous Versions. It is an automated process and is tied into System Restore. It was available on Business versions of Vista and all versions of Windows 7. The backups are only made once a day and are not unlimited. However it may be adjusted so that it may be turned off or increased to all the free space on the hard drive. It is not a perfect recovery tool, but one more to be added to the arsenal. This is a great trick for recovering data that have been deleted and removed from the recycle bin. It is just another tool for datarecovery. 2. Thank you...thank you...thank you for your information! It is really awesome you saved my research draft!
  3. All I can say is you are a life saver! I bought my laptop from a private owner and after 3 years decided to change him being the administrator to myself. I didn't know that it would create a whole new desktop, etc and I would lose 3 years worth of written books and business work and information. I was devastated! I had no words because I would have to recreate all that work again. People suggested all these software programs which took forever and my stuff came back scrambled. I've spent the last 4 months trying to recreate the stuff I've lost. I had been on youtube several times looking for solutions and nothing was able to help me. I lost this information about 7 months ago. Tonight I came on and your video popped up and it worked! Praise God! I had been silently praying because I was going to have to rewrite a 300 page book that I had written and I dreaded it. I said a little prayer and I heard to go back onto youtube. Your instructions were simple and to the point. Thank you so much!

  17. Thanks for the help......
  18. Not an app. What I mean is that hopefully sometime in the past, you stored that file somewhere else in case your computer failed you. Then you could go to that copy of that file and access it. If that file is important, you should keep multiple copies of it. I save important things to flash drive, Skydrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, and my website. I have five copies, because if one fails me, I can always go to another. The services above are free but have limitations of what you can store.
  19. Then they are gone. Somebody might have turned it off. Hopefully you have backups.
  20. Possibly, but I've never seen them hidden there. Microsoft doesn't really support Windows XP to Windows 7 upgrades. They claim that they wipe the hard drive when you go from XP to 7. I've never really investigated it, so I may be wrong, but that Windows old options was for people re-installing Windows Vista or 7. It was never supposed to be applied to XP.
