  1. They changed the interface of disk utility on the newer OSes. Will this method put the restore partition back?

  9. Hello
I had problems installing the SSD 850 evo. My macbook is the model early 2011 13 '. When I try to install OS X get the error: "It is not possible to disassemble the unit." What can it be?
  10. Works perfectly!!! Read down the thread, because you need to reboot slightly differently into disk utility if you're on Yosemite.
  11. To clone your HDD to SSD in Disk Utility your macbook will need to be booted up from 'recovery drive'. Press 'option' or 'alt' when the computer is booting up, then select recovery. Then follow steps to clone.
  12. THANKS

  14. What procedure i have to follow in el capitan recovery mode to clone my hd like they do in the video? el capitan's disk recovery is different and i don't find out the same commands
  15. Nicely produced and very clear. Only one problem - she says a SATA cable for cloning is included with all Samsung SSD's... Nope. Oh well.
  16. Under Mac OSX Yosemite, you must enter the restoration mode, by restarting the mac with command + R pressed, so you may clone your old hdd to your new ssd using disk utility. See ya!
  17. Bad info.  With Yosemite the Disk Utility will not allow the home drive to be used as the restore source.  Now I have to find SuperDuper or something.

Used this video to help me upgrade an existing HDD on a MacBook Pro mid-2010 to a 500GB Samsung 840 EVO.  Short and simple step-by-step instructions.  Other videos had too much superfluous information that was not necessary to do the job.  Additional note, besides a phillips screwdriver, you will also need a Torx wrench.
  19. I know what I want for Xmas. 840 evo. Drool. I miss having a snappy computer.
  20. Mid 2009 MacBook white
