Several things can go bad on flash drives that would trap your important files on there some of them might be physical damage of vital components, controller corruption, burned fuses, and broken connections. So lets start with the simple stuff first. To perform data recovery we need this device to be either repaired or data needs to be extracted directly off the NAND flash memory chip. First thing we always do is visual inspection of connections and components, so to perform that you would need to remove the plastic/metal enclosure. Inspection microscope is proffered for this, as you would need to get a close look at really small components and overall layout of the board. Right away after looking at the USB connector on our Sandisk Cruzer, it was obvious that over extensive period of use all 4 signal points on the connector had either broke lose or were on the edge of it. Best practice to eliminate any connection issues is to remove the UBS connector from the board completely and reattach it with extended wires. This way we know, that our connections are 100% solid. - Remove old USB connector by disordering it, super wick to get most of the solder off and rework station can come in handy. - Get wire extensions - Clean up the tracks on our PCB and prep them for wire attachment - Attach wires to appropriate positions on the board - Attach other end of wires to proper positions on the USB connector - Isolate wiring, and make sure that non of the wires are crossing/touching each other After this you are done! However, if your still cannot recover data from Sandisk Cruzer or any other type of flash drive after properly reattaching connector -- you can send us an email or request recovery on our site here: http://goo.gl/BTeYA

  16. just had a 'dead' flash drive (2 blinks of the light & then it stopped).  Watched this video & got the idea to take it apart.  'bent' it a little, put it back in the usb port & it connected perfectly.  Removed the data & threw away the drive.... I'm guessing it had a loose connection.  Saved all info to a usb hard drive, whew!!!
